We admit that this year has not been one of our greatest competitions. However, we are proud that we were able to complete this competition 100% online. We would have loved to do more as well, but considering our resources and limitations - we gave it our best shot!

Good morning, afternoon and evening folks!

This is Renato, the AMV Co-ordinator for the SMASH! AMV Competition. Thank you to dear Empyreanous, my fellow assistant AMV Co-ordinator for formally opening and introducing the competition to the org community!

I would like to extend this personal note to all of you as I feel I've been wanting to say this for a long time.

2020 has been full of ups and downs for all of us around the world, and for us working at SMASH!, our beloved con had to be cancelled due to COVID-19 which is a blow to us (and for many cons around the world), however when we found out that the con would not go ahead, us at the AMV team made the decision quickly to continue with the AMV competition and with the blessings of our higher ups, we proudly present this competition to you dear AMV editors.

You guys have been entertaining and inspiring our local editors here for the last 14 years and the work you guys pull off is nothing short of amazing. Over the last 11 years as the co-ordinator, I have had many people (regardless whether they were an editor or an attendee) come up to me and ask about some of your work and who you were. Nothing makes me more happy than when I tell them who you editors are and telling them the amount of time and effort you put into your work (And of course, helping them find your YouTube account online when possible

).

On my 12th year as an AMV co-ordinator, I continue to welcome you into the SMASH! AMV Competition and while we are doing things a little different this year, we hope this competition will be as great as the previous years. That's why I want to say a big THANK YOU to all you editors (whether you are Australian or from Overseas) for entering the competition in the past years; showcasing your epic editing skills and most importantly, entertaining our local AMV community (and to the general public as well). Without you the editors, without your constant feedback and without your epic AMVs, the SMASH! AMV Competition would not have grown to what it is today. And if the current environment improves here in Sydney, we hope to proudly show of your works on the big screen again sometime in the not so distant future.

So, if you got some spare time in lockdown, or if you have some epic works that you have made within the last year that you would like to showcase and compete, please come and enter the SMASH! AMV Competition! We look forward to your works!

Myself, Empyreanous and Chrystal will be lingering around this topic and will happily answer your questions if you have any! ^_^

First of all, we would like to say thank you for your patience with us so far! I do apologise if we have been a bit slow at responses, but we are looking to review entries and respond back to emails within a 24 - 72 hour timeframe. If you don't receive a response within that time, then feel free to send us email again.

Also, just wanted to mention that there was just 3 weeks left for entering our competition!

Remember that our deadline is Sunday, 27th September 2020 @ 11:59 p.m. (AEST/UTC+10).

I'm sorry if I missed this in any of the information you guys have up but when is the contest itself? It says results will be up in October, but I can't seem to find info on the rest.

Thank you for your question and no need to apologise at all

Since we are doing it online, we will be announcing the winners online on Sunday 18th October 2020. We are still finalising the details itself, but we will update you very soon!

Also, sorry about this - I just realised we only mentioned it on our rules and guidelines and not on our main page or in the post. That was actually my bad, so sorry again

It's the last day and we are receiving a load of entries right now so thank you very much for entering!

Just incase, if you have not received a confirmation email from us after the deadline, that is ok! We are in the process of personally reviewing all these entries and you will definitely here from us!

At the time of this writing, only roughly 7.5 hours to till the deadline! The comp is still open folks if you wish to enter!
