Tora-Con 2019 is now accepting entries to our annual AMV Contest (and all of our other contests too)!

Contest overview:
- Categories are Action, Romance, Drama, Upbeat, Comedy/Parody, and Trailer/Other
- Editors may submit up to 2 entries. Each entry must be in a different category.
- Tora-Con is a family-friendly event, including our AMV Contest. Please review our content rules carefully.
- Entries must have been completed on or after March 23rd, 2017 (in other words, entries must be less than 2 years old at the start of Tora-Con 2019)
- Entries may not have won an award (or awards) at two or more other AMV contests at the time of their entry*

* Tora-Con is a relatively small convention with a wonderful local community. Many of our attendees are new editors themselves, and we like to ensure that they, and other first-time editors have a chance to compete.

About Tora-Con:
- Tora-Con started out as nothing more than a simple cosplay contest hosted by the RIT Anime Club at the Rochester Institute of Technology in the spring of 2004. Since then, it has grown to be a two-day convention with 2,700 attendees!
- Tora-Con is an annual celebration of anime and Japanese culture. Some of our recurring events include the Cosplay Contest, Cosplay Chess show, Idol Singing Contest, concert, dance, and of course... the AMV Contest.
- Since our convention is located on a college campus (with college oversight), we strive to make our event as family-friendly as possible. Anime fans of all ages are welcome at Tora-Con!

Update on contest status:

It's been 3 weeks since we started accepting applications! Entering early usually means you will "beat the rush" and receive approval of your AMV faster. As time goes on, more people will begin applying and the approval process will slow down. Here's a look at how many videos have been accepted so far:

- 2 videos in the Action, Romance, and Drama categories respectively
- 1 video in the Trailer/Other category
- 0 videos in the Comedy/Parody and Upbeat categories.

Keep the AMVs coming! Thank you to anyone who has applied already!

Here's another 3-week update: We are are just a little bit over 3 weeks away from the contest deadline and still pretty low on contestants. This is good news for editors, because it means better chances of becoming a finalist--so enter today!

- 6 videos in the ever-popular Drama category
- 4 videos in Action
- 3 videos in Upbeat
- 2 videos in Romance
- 1 video in the Trailer/Other category and Comedy/Parody categories

One of these shiny award plaques (plus a possible additional prize) might be yours!

In case any editors are wondering, Tora-Con will be holding our Judge's Screening this weekend, so we will be able to announce finalists sometime next week. During the Judges Screening, Tora-Con staff members will score each and every one of our 72 accepted entries (nearly 4 hours of video!). Finalists will be the 6 top-scoring videos in each category.
