Ronin-Expo 2017 (Winners Announced)

Post by Dvl-Jigen » Tue Apr 18, 2017 12:27 am

Ronin-Expo is officially accepting entries for its first annual AMV competition!

Please be sure to review all of the rules below before submitting your videos. We can't wait to see what you will amaze us with this year. Good luck!

Categories
-Action
-Comedy
-Drama

Entry Guidelines
Contestants may enter up to three (3) videos, but only one (1) per category. Entries must be at least 70% Japanese animation.

Encoding
-MP4s using H.264/AVC compression are preferred. However, we will also work with AVIs and MPEG2 files. Files larger than 350MB will not be downloaded, so please correctly compress your work.
File Resolution: Entries must have a minimum resolution of 640x480, a maximum resolution of 1920x1080 and a frame rate of 23.97 or 29.97.

Awards
-TBA

Disqualification Rules:
-Videos containing portions of another editor's video will be disqualified and the submitter of said video will be permanently banned from all subsequent contests.
-Participants who submit videos that are not their own will also be banned permanently.
-Refusal to provide one's legal name will result in disqualification from the contest.
-Bumpers, title screens, credits, or any other form of creator / footage / audio identification are not allowed: We will be adding custom title screens to identify each video so there really isn’t a need for them on your submitted files, so please remove them. If you're video contains bumpers/titles screens/credits/ect in the video itself (i.e. is part of the video and can not be cut) please make a note on your submission form and I will try to work with you to find a solution!

Time Limit
-The running time for videos may not exceed 6 minutes or be shorter then 1 minute.

Freshness Rule
-Your video must not have premiered before April 2nd, 2016

Judging & Use
Videos will be pre-screened and judged prior to the convention. The judges reserve the right to move a video to another category if they feel it would be a better fit.
Ronin-Con reserves the right to use submitted AMVs during the convention and subsequent Ronin-Con conventions, regardless of Finalist status.

Due Date
-Competing AMVs and their submission form are due by May 26th, 2017 at 11:59 P.M. PDT.

Submission Form:
To enter your video, you must submit a completed entry form along with each of your video entries. If you enter multiple videos, you must complete multiple entry forms, one form for each video you submit
Please create a simple TXT file with the following information in it:
Real Name:
Full Address:
Phone Number w/ area code:
Working Email Address:
----------
Editor Name: (your real name if you do not use a pseudonym):
Member Name: at http://www.animemusicvideos.org (if any):
Studio Name: (if any):
Video Title:
Video Source: (if 3 or more, you may list as ‘various’):
Audio Source Title:
Audio Source Artist:
Category you wish your video to be placed in:

Note: If submitting a multi-editor project, list all the editors in the Real Name and Editor Name sections in order above, with the contact person as the first person listed. For the Address, phone number, and email address, only the contact person’s information is required.

Save the above as a TXT file and name it as stated in the File Naming Convention section below.
Dropbox or Google Drive links are preferred and streaming sites are not accepted. We can download from a-m-v.org's local server, but remember, no intros/bumpers/watermarks/titles/credits/etc.
If you don't have all of your videos available at the same time, feel free to use the form multiple times. Please contact us if you need/want to replace an entry with a new one or need to give us an updated download link, however.

Electronic Entries
For electronic submissions, please email your completed entry form(s) to the e-mail address roninexpo.amv@gmail.com. If your entry is not received in a timely manor, you can then be contacted about your entry.

Enter via Upload:
If you are entering electronically via public file-serving sites, please compress your video and completed entry form together into one file using either a ZIP or RAR compression format prior to uploading it to the site. Please limit one entry (video and entry form) per compressed file – if you are submitting multiple entries, please upload multiple compressed files for ease of documentation of your entries. Once you have uploaded your file, email the location to the Ronin-Con Coordinator (all contact information will be listed at the very end).

File Naming Convention
All video files and completed entry forms submitted must be named in the following format:
Creator – title – music artist – music title – anime source . file type
Creator – your editor name (or real name if you prefer)
Title – the title of your video (if any)
Music artist – Artist / group name of the song used in the video, or if using another audio source type, source of the audio file (e.g. – ‘The Dark Knight’ movie trailer)
Music title – title of the song, or identifying segment for the audio if not using a musical source
File type – the type of video container you are using (MPG, AVI, WMV, etc), or TXT for your entry form
This means that both your video and your completed entry form will be named exactly the same, with the exception of the file type at the end.

Entry Checklist

Does your video meet the video profile requirements?
Did you fill out your entry form?
Are your video and entry form named in the following format?
Creator – title – music artist – music title – anime source . file type
Did you email your entry form to the Ronin-Con AMV Coordinator?
Did you compress as a ZIP or RAR file your video and entry form (one entry per file)?
Did you upload the compressed file to either Dropbox or Google Drive and email the link to Roninexpo.amv@gmail.com?

I'm very confused by the file naming convention. Could you possibly give an example of such?

So, first off, sorry for the late reply. Secondly, here's an example of how it should look like.

Dvl-jigen - Ghoul's World - Ciara - Paint it Black - Toyko Ghoul.mp4 <------Video entry
Dvl-jigen - Ghoul's World - Ciara - Paint it Black - Toyko Ghoul.txt <------Entry Form

If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

What if you have 2 video sources how would that look like? If there's 3 or more I assume the source would just be named as "Various"?

Well i'm glad that these problems are getting resolved. Also, I just submitted my AMV entries within the past half an hour, so it should be in your inbox by now. I look forward to hearing from you guys, whether or not my AMV's are included in the contest. Also "DVL-Jigen", I see that you're located in San Diego, CA. Have you heard of my uncle "Kevin Thomas"? He's a prominent musician and TEACHES music out there, and also one of my uncles. He also has a website too, but I just wanted to know of you knew him, or at least knew OF him.
