THE ONE AND ONLY KING OF SPAYN NEW YEARS AMV CONTEST!!! This year we are celebrating 13 dreadful years of KoS.
"But what is King of Spayn?" You ask?
Well, as the year closes out we tend to get ready for a new year of anime, AMV's and more. So what better way to celebrate the start of a new year than to make an AMV for the new year? The King of Spayn videos are unique, as in order to celebrate the AMV's that have come before you will make an AMV using OTHER peoples videos. Yes, that is correct you will be taking your favorite AMV's and mashing together into a sexual explosion of fun for the new year. You are able to use any videos you like but your video must consist of mostly other people AMV's.
Other than that it's a free range on the internet to use what ever will make your King of Spayn video stand out. See the rules below for more clarity. In the event that you win then the coveted King of Spayn Crown will be yours.*
* The King of Spayn crown has no intrinsic value and can not be transferred into monetary value.
What are the rules for King of Spayn?
While we allow you to go hog wild with making your King of Spayn video you will have to follow the rules to make sure that you qualify:
1) Music must be a foreign (to you) song! That means non-English for English speakers and as a blanket rule NO Japanese songs. Sorry, but it's a little to easy with anime.
2) Videos must comprise 75% of others editors AMV’s! That leaves 25% for other random bullshit. And I do mean random. Go crazy!
3) Time Limit of 8:00 per video.
So starting on Jan 1st at 12:00 AM in YOUR TIME ZONE (YTZ) you can start editing. (That's midnight new years day, no cheating!) Seven days later at 12:00 AM in YTZ your time is up. Please have all videos in our hands by the end of the 7th day. From there we will have the video judged and if you create the best (or worst as the case may be) KOS video you may be crowned the next King of Spayn. (Prizes may apply based on current King's preference).

Yes, the lazy option again, but it's effective. Simply upload your finished AND COMPRESSED video to the google drive ACCOMPANIED by a simple txt doc of the same name with your editing handle, email address and song title & artist. If you have problems with the upload or wish for another submission method PM me. Keep the deadline in mind. I will monitor the upload times, anyone not in by midnight their time zone will be disqualified unless given prior permission.

What is the King's rule and how does it work?
If you are the current King of Spayn then you can add one rule to the contest as long as it does not conflict with existing rules.
King Pilk decrees that in this contest the judging shall be both public and shared with all contestants.
How is this gong to work? Well, it's fairly simple, but some background is necessary. Since KoS is purely a "for the hell of it" kind of event the reigning king can choose to compete and could technically win a consecutive title. This has never happened, but it's possible. Typically for this reason a king who wishes to participate will appoint judges in his stead. However as was the case last year some contestants seem to have a differing opinion from the judges, so this year every contestant gets a vote which will be cast via a public document. The judges will also have a vote cast in the same location but will weigh heavier. The total judges points will be equivalent to the number of entrants MINUS one. Meaning that in the case of a unanimous decision (though a rare event) the entrants could overshadow the judges, however the judges will weigh heavy in the event of ties.
This is a trial run, we'll see how it goes over after the contest is complete. There will be no vote shaming so if you feel like your entry was the best, by all means vote for yourself. Who knows, that could be the one vote needed to win.
