I don't know what the big problem is. The only thing I said is I would like to see a list of the finalist. It was just odd that a contest did not post the list before the convention.

If they are going to post a list later on youtube we'll just have to wait until then. I'm sure everything is going to be fine.

I think people are just keeping themselves entertained

But if anyone is seriously thinking of flooding their twitter or facebook with messages, it's not a good way to reach them. If nothing is posted within a week, send the coordinator a PM or e-mail. I'm sure their busy with post-con duties, and they possibly have to get back home and back to work for the week.

Congrats to the winners. A lot of well known videos in the winners list here.

I'll be keeping an eye out for the full list of amv's that were played.

Congrats to the winners, but I really hope cons start putting in anti-trolling rules more... would love to see some variety in winners / other creators recognized for their hard work. It was sad I recently spoke with a creator I met last year that travelled all the way from another country... and they are now so discouraged how contests are run in the states he isn't bothering to enter them anymore. Then again I am an old dinosaur from back in the 90s who would stop sending a video after 2-3 wins as I detested trolling winning AMVs.

At MTAC if your video has more than 4 awards it won't be accepted... which reminds me I have to publish the rules soon.

All cons I am aware of do have some sort of anti-trolling rule, unfortunately there is very little contest coordinators can do. I don't think they can keep track of what's winning where at all times. I am with you though, I'm a relic from those times as well and stop sending a video after it's won at even one convention. As a editor, it bothers me to see the same thing winning over and over again and as an amv watcher, I never vote for the same video twice if I see it at two conventions. I want to give other people an honest chance.

On another note, Congrats to all the winners. :D

it's funny that the only single video I submitted makes its first appearance in this contest and it's a winner. I mean, 4 years ago was the last time one of my videos won in its first appearance

Congrats to the winners

We mean videos that have won at multiple conventions over this year. most of the winners here with a few exceptions I've seen win at other conventions. Some of which I think were far enough back that they would of already won said conventions.
[exceptions to this rule are videos that are sent to two conventions at the same time and win both of them. So if you see two conventions that are really close to each other, then it's not trolling but if you see one in January that is still airing by December...well, then it's doubtful they were all sent at the same time.]

Some of you should consider that most people attenting the con and the amv broadcast (to whom it is intended for in the first place even if we are the brick of the show) know few things about amvs and probably less about winning amvs of the year (masquerade anyone :dino:). Frankly speaking, I love these trolling amvs (excuse the expression) since they give a neat show to the public and a good image of amvs at the convention. However, I do agree that something can be done easily for anyone doing minimal google search to know if an amv had an award or not in the past...but its not like every coordinator will care or is even aware of what is basically happening in amv community. Each contest and coordinator has its own rules, way of doing things with logistic, way of evolving, way of hating people who does not attend cons, way of hating people who does not send exclusive amvs, hating people who sends constructive critics after the contests...their overall levels are simply differents and not all of them are updated amv maker. But, its not because you re an amv maker that you are a good coordinator...I saw some that had terrible relations with con directors and staff. Some coordinator have ridiculous criteria for judging, some of them forgot to print the ballot and bring stoopid crayons, some of them have zero idea of how technical stuff work, some of them simply cant lead at all, some of them give 2-3-4 awards to a single amv and the list just goes on and on with the laugh you can have before you become one yourself and mature a bit. Also, some conventions insist on having staff or people attenting the con for judges (and I swear, most of you would be dead for judging or forming a team) because they need substainable plans for the future (a very long term investement).

Personally, when I have a new amv, I send it (or used to) to every contest I can wether its a winner or not because most amv contest have trouble getting decent amvs, a decent number of entries and in my case, a decent number of amv with a more unique anime and story than a technical showoff (troll intended for that statement :asd:). Why a coordinator would not want to say thank you for sending in an amv with a lot of charisma, the alternative would be of having amvs that are not judged at all...like half contest half broadcast. Sending an amv is like making a donation...you do not know what will happen with it, but somewhere, you still feel happy.

Otakuthon is a special and unique case...about 5 of 7 of the categories are voted by the public (its like 5 time a public prize for each categories. Of course you noticed some different winners over there). Technical stuff and quality matter less here for amvs...but logistic behing the convention gotta be high. One thing for sure, you cannot blame the public or question its choice for the results (even if its fucking Naruto)...
