It got a bit buried in the video changes, but the editors brunch on Saturday is still a go. The plan is to meet Saturday at 10:30 am at the breakfast buffet place in the hotel atrium (on the left side if you're facing the atrium from the lobby). If you're interested, please let me know!

I'll probably be there unless some emergency-type thing happens.

What do you look for in an AMV finalist? I been trying for several years now to even get in a contest to atleast vote on my video to win and never get accepted. I tried asking other people that run amv contests from other conventions but I don't even get a reply back to my emails. I even look at other amvs and guides and it's not helping get me anywhere. Do you just have to be lucky to get in or am I just wasting my time?

Be sure to enter our contest... I will be more than happy to give you some feedback if your video doesn't make the cut. You have to keep in mind the level of competition is very high today. I sent in a video of mine that has made the finals in 4+ AMV contests and has won an award, but it didn't make the cut at Katsucon while another video of mine hasn't gotten much love at cons and made the cut for retro... so go figure.

If you were to enter in Zenkaikon's contest, I can also fill you in on why you may not be making it.
We've all been through droughts.
Winning isn't everything, though.
It's usually enough to get on the ballot so, even if you don't win, the same number of people have seen your work.
That's the real goal.
Winning pretty awards is nice but exposure is more important.

When might we expect results to be popping up?

You will all know soon.
We, as AMV staff, are being made to wait until they post the results to their web site and Facebook page.
I feel (and I told our director as such) that this convention is doing too much walking on eggshells with all their legal fears.
Anyway, you will all get to view the award show video as soon as we're able to link you to the results.

Well...maybe *I* can't tell you yet but I know of two people here who definitely could if they felt so inclined. ;)

I'll list what I can recall easily, and shamelessly promote myself at the same time!

Best Action:
BakaOppai's "Magi, the Dayman." (Which my girlfriend will not stop singing)

Best Drama:
Emma Browning, with "Hypocrisy and Innocence"
(Runner up by just one vote - Studio Hawk with "Rebellion!")

Best Upbeat/Dance:
Armed and Out of Medications Productions' "Don't Stop Arale Now!" This also won the Coordinator's Choice, which I think means it won ZAFT's approval. :awesome:
(On a related note, I do have to ask... why not go for the Retro category with this one?)

Best Retro:
Maboroshi Sudio's "Oblivion"

Best Romance/Sentimental:
Yours truly, Miracle Falcon, with "An Ohtori Love Story," which you can watch right here!

Winner of too many awards:
zMagicstorm's "Become Free at the YMCA"

Actually, on the topic of that last one... By my recollection, it won three awards, but I can't figure out which ones. I know it got Best in Show and Audience Choice, and then I guess it must have gotten Best Comedy... But I coulda sworn it also won Con Chair's Choice. Can anyone help me out?

I promise you that is accurate. Deuce said a lot of people were impressed with the fact that you used Nausicaa. For my part, you really spoiled it for me, you should wait a while after these sorts of things come out to reveal plot points like that!

LOL! I was amazed at AWA when some other creators said they haven't seen Nausicaa... I was like wtf? Then again I am from the mid 90s AMV generation of creators so Retro is a very fitting description of me... so much better than OLD / Antiquated.

o_O I bought my Nausicaa DVD in 2005. Movie was made in the 80s. What's your excuse? :P
