Nan Desu Kan - AMV Iron Chef 2011

Post by Radical_Yue » Sat Aug 13, 2011 4:12 pm

Yup, we're doing it again!

Image

Date/Time: Currently unavailable...

Once more, Nan Desu Kan will play host to one of the most well known AMV events around! A LIVE IRON CHEF! This time around Kitsuner will be defending his title of AMVIC champ from the king himself...the honorable PWOLF!

Theme: This year, the theme will be "Only The Good Die Young!" Will these heroes be left to rot in their graves for all eternity? Or brought back for one last round of thriller? It will be up to our prestigious competitors to decide how to use the sources they've been presented with....speaking of sources...

Did someone say sources?
Excel Saga ep 1-5
Yu Yu Hakusho ep 1 - 5
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time
Cowboy Bebop ep 22-26
Full Metal Alchemist ep 1 - 5

Rules: Following the standard rules, at least three of these sources must be used. Each contestant is allowed to cut their audio ahead of time and bring it with them to the event. They may bring multiple tracks if they so desire, as no audio will be provided during the event. In addition, each editor must use at least 1 second of the mandatory secret ingredient. The secret ingredient will be announced at the convention on the day of the competition!

Both editors will have exactly 2 hours to edit before their work is rendered out and presented before our panel of judges. Both editors will be able to select their editing program of choice to use during the Iron Chef.

The videos will be judged on overall presentation, use of theme, and the use of the secret ingredient.

When selecting their audio, the contestants are not allowed to use/incorporate any version of "Only The Good Die Young." Sorry boys, but we're not gonna make it that easy for you

And of course, while those two edit like madman, we'll have plenty of audience participation, games, interesting demonstrations and prizes to win!

So come join us once more for this fantastic event at Nan Desu Kan!
Located in Denver, Colorado from September 9th-11th

It's the standard for Iron Chef events, including online tournaments :P AX was the only one I've ever heard of with 3 hours to edit.

IMO 2 hours is a better idea :P It makes the competitors really prepare for the event and leaves little time for goofing off.

I've seen editors bring entire notepads with ideas and timestamps for preparation purposes. When you're given more time, you tend to let your guard down since you think "Meh~ I've still got two hours after this"

I always recommend for people to sign up for Brad's IC tourney he hosts on the org. I think it's much tougher conditions than any convention IC and really prepares you :P

I once took a break during a 4-hour iron chef and got dinner at Sizzler. Fun times.
