Level Up 2011
AMVNews.ru holds the second thematic contest of Level Up series. The main idea behind the contest is to join forces of pro and novice music video creators and make them work in pairs. Partners exchange experience, and novice gains new skills in video making from his/her "elder" teammate, thus increasing his/her level drastically. As the previous contest showed, this concept draws much interest of creators as well as of viewers' audience.
You may find detailed rules and register for participation here.
Please note, we accept only videos never shown online before (exclusive premiere on contest)!

Re: Level Up 2011
A question, if we are novice video editor, and we don't speak any russian, would we still be allowed to sign up? also, are we paired up based on skill or do we have to decide our own teams?

Register for the contest can be everything. There is already the organizers decide which category you to record, for not speaking in Russian, it is desirable to find a suitable team to not have problems with communication.

Re: Level Up 2011
I don't know if this contest will get people here but it will definetely work on AMVnews and AMV-France.
Maybe The Org is a bit... too big for this kind of contest. I mean there are so many editors here and they don't know very well each other ^_^
And it's better to know the people (a little) to create a team. Communication should be done on smaller forums (maybe). But Org is still a good forum to advert max of people about an event.

Re: Level Up 2011
I'd like to participate but I have a question about how the pairing up works.
Do the coordinators choose the teams?
Do the novice editors pick who they want to be paired with?
Do the Pros pick who they want to be with?
Because I think this is an awesome idea and a great outreach program.
I'm not sure if this would be kosher, but perhaps we should have an English speaker do a separate, but parallel contest so there wouldn't be any communication issues.
I'm just throwing ideas out there.
But seriously, props to whomever came up with this idea in the first place.

5) As the number of Pros is rather limited, we recommend Novices to contact a Pro you want to work with directly (via private message, for example) with a request to participate in contest together.
However, I believe if you sign up without a pro, then they will team you up accordingly, and also the rules ARE in English so its not that hard D: Just have to find someone, doesn't have to be russian I'm sure to be your pair :3 or someone Bilingual *O*
