I know I saw it somewhere. I thought it was in the AMV guide. Maybe it was on the forum?
There's a link to a torrent file for a RAR of Premiere 6.5 in the "General M.V. Talk" board, so perhaps I confused it with that.
And by the way, the word "conundrum" <a href="http://dictionary.reference.com/search? ... definitely does exist</a>. Not to be confused with "corundum".

my first amv used dvds i ripped-ssj2gohan- wrote:next time please specify. and our guide was mainly for newbs cuz if u weren't a newb u wouldn't need to see it and if u are a newb you shouldn't be starting by ripping your own dvds it can get complicated for them

either way, wouldn't it be benificial to at least tell them that's an option? AMV editing is complicated already, there is nothign simple about making them. so teaching someone how to rip a dvd and use better (not to mention legal) footage is a lot more helpful then saying "you can either make your own or download it". Dispite the fact that there are legality issues with amvs, there is no need to make it even more complicated when you use downloaded liscensed footage (unless you they already own the dvd)
i looked at the guide in the first place because i was curious as to what you had... see if it made sense and maybe pick up something i didn't know... just because someone has been editing for 3+ years (5 in my case) doesn't mean i know everything. In fact, in the last year i learned more about preimere then i have in the whole 5 years of editing. I know how to edit and make a good video, but saving time by using different tools and techniques is a big help when i have to juggle school and other responciblities. There is always something new to learn and i'm always looking for it.
Anyway, i'm not trying to anger you or anything, it's just that what you have on your website goes against a lot of other's and my own morals (not to mention the rules of this website). I think if you at least mentioned using dvds as an alternative to download footage and also provided a link to the part in the guides here on the org that cover it (or writing your own wouldn't hurt) i wouldn't have a problem with your guide. not to mention removing the links as to where to get downloaded footage.
i'll admit it, i've used downloaded footage... but that's only when the dvd isn't an option i can use at the moment (not released in the US or hard to find an import)

I've been waiting till I have enough time to make a DVD Ripping tutorial for my site, I really want it on there. And the MV tutorial was made by my friend like over a year ago and i editied the page a little bit if I made it now I would have put you should rip your own dvds but thanks I'll add that to it. Back then I could barely rip my own dvds :P and what i said by make your own clips ripping falls into that category but I should have said that
