So I was about to go to bed last night when I realized "oh my god, my video contains the word 'shat' and I forgot to bleep it out." Should I resubmit my audio with "shat" bleeped out, or is that tame enough to keep in there? It's sort of buried in the music so it's your call. If so, I may use an orchestra hit that fits in the chord because it's a very musically epic moment and I don't want a silly noise in there. *pout.*

edit: Also, sorry for the pointless email with the FTP account questions; one of these days I will learn to read. orz

**edit again: If possible, and ONLY IF it isn't too much trouble, I would actually like to resubmit video along with the censored audio... there was one barely noticeable blip that I thought was unfixable and was willing to live with, but ... I fixed it. The new audio AND video is rendering right now, so please let me know if I should refrain from sending anything... I'm so sorry this is probably a pain in the ass. If it's really too much trouble to change, I'm okay with it the way it is.

I didn't want to wait too long in case it meant the difference between revisions being considered and not being considered... so I'm currently transferring a second video, same title, with the addition of "revised and censored."

Please ignore it if need be. If it does still need to be censored but you will not accept any revised video, I am happy to send along an mp3.

Apologies again for being so scattered... I got married last week, and all my editing projects were put on hold for the few weeks leading up to that, and it's just been crazy.

So, submissions are closed now, correct? Any word on how many entries were submitted, and when we might get news who got in?

Good luck to all entrants!

The email I got when my video was "tested to play fine" said that finalists should be announced about a month before the con. Keep in mind that last year we didn't know finalists until like 10 days before the convention, though.

Yea, and that 10 days early notice was before Vic was even supposed to announce them since the Otakon lawyer hadnt yet approved the videos. As I recall the only reason he announced early was because everyone wanted to know and there were no objections to having them be announced with the disclaimer that some may be disqualified due to legal issues brought up by the lawyer. I think that entrants will feel the same way about it this year.

So here's what's happening now so ya'll are still in the loop.

Deadline is over. Thank you for all of your perfectly encoded videos </sarcasm>

Tradition now dictates that this thread must be kept alive with guesses as to how many entries we received this year ;)

I still have to go through ALL of the videos that arrived after 8PM on the 12th, as well as 3 that I picked up from the PO box. That's over 30 videos alone. I'm working on them now, so if you fall into this group, don't fear, you'll get an e-mail eventually. If you uploaded your video earlier, check your spam folders. Any video that was in the FTP when I woke up Monday morning will qualify as being in "on-time". If I need corrections from anyone, you'll have a day or two to make them.

Once these entries are compiled, we will pre-screen all of them on July 2nd. The event is semi-open, meaning anyone who can make it to Philly is invited, but there's only so much physical space available. If you're interested in giving up your ENTIRE SATURDAY then PM me and I will put you in touch with the pre-screening coordinator.

I will know the finalists by July 3rd, and will PROBABLY announce them early with the disclaimer that said list is not final, nor will it be until right before the con. Otakorp's lawyer has until the publications deadline to approve the entries for the final contest, and only then will the ballots get printed and the list written in stone. I believe this deadline is July 20th but I might be wrong about that.

I'll go with the nice round power of 2 and guess 128 for this year.
