It seems to me like everyone is just stating their opinons over and over and over again!
Everyone has valid points. But like myself and Daniel have already pointed out, this is such a grey issue!
There is no way that there can be a simple black or white too it. Even if rules and fees were put into place people are still going to find a way around these rules.
Lets get back to the main reason why we made this amvs.. for fun and to express ourselves and to show our love of anime!
Being that I'm a newbie I look up to you guys who have been here longer. To see this just makes my faith in why people make amv's plumit! Its very discouraging!
Come on people... why did you start making amvs? To express yourself or just to win a freaking award? If all you want out of this is an award.. thats just sad. I just want people to see my videos... yeah it would be nice to get an award. It would be super great! But thats not the reason I made them. I made them b/c I was inspired by others and have a love for anime.

You're just echoing how I've felt for awhile...it is very discouraging, but that's how it is unfortunatelyBlueJellybean wrote: Being that I'm a newbie I look up to you guys who have been here longer. To see this just makes my faith in why people make amv's plumit! Its very discouraging!

Unfortunately, within any sort of art or creative output, there is always going to be the competitive types that want to win as well as others who just well..do it. It's sadly something we have to accept and at the same time, there is nothing technically wrong with it...it's a free world and people can do what they want for whatever reasons...
Again...welcome to the (un)wonderful world of AMVs

It's only as (un)wonderful as the person makes it out to be. Stressing about how many times someone's video gets entered into a contest and how many awards it has won is only adding uneccessary stress. This prize mindset is blinding people from the reason they started making videos in the first place. Hell, if I wanted to just try and win awards, I wouldn't dare shoot out some of the crap I make. I make videos because I wanna see my creation come to life and awards are just an added bonus meaning someone didn't think it sucked. Now we should all get back to making pr0n videos and self pleasure before it is too late.dwchang wrote: Again...welcome to the (un)wonderful world of AMVs!

I started making amvs so that I could participate in all of these fun holy wars. ;)BlueJellybean wrote:Come on people... why did you start making amvs? And that would suck since the stuff you are referring to isn't crap and it would be unfortunate if some of that stuff were never created (namely Sweet Empathy and Windy...for me at least).mexicanjunior wrote:Hell, if I wanted to just try and win awards, I wouldn't dare shoot out some of the crap I make.
So yeah...keep making...err..crap

BTW I forgot to mention...as you can see from the emoticon..I'm just joking around...you gotta realize how pessimistic I am. I still have fun...don't worry about memexicanjunior wrote:It's only as (un)wonderful as the person makes it out to be. I enjoyed it alot and even voted for it as it drove my YYH/Memories video to the ground as well.mexicanjunior wrote:I also just wanted to add I loved that Yatta vid when I saw it at Akon ("bus! bus! bus!" :p ) and appluaded when it stomped on my poor Sasami video. I think it has every right to compete in as many contests as they wish it to. If people don't like that, make something better and beat it.

I get to see it at AX with no quality problems hopefully
