Vlad
I don't disagree with an age limitation or "freshness" rule, but I'll viciously argue against any sort of rule that bans a video from one contest because it already won at some other contest.

Though there are some really old AMVs out there that are still decent even by today's standards...
I had never mentioned anything about winning awards.
Fuck, I'm a major advocate of older AMVs. If someone asks me what good editing is I jump straight back to videos that are 4+ years older.

And by begging for the "honor" of playing videos that have won shit that kinda seems pathetic. After all, this is one of the biggest (if not the biggest) cons in the US, correct? Why the hell should you be begging for pretty videos to pway that have won before?

Also, cool to see you guys are fans of the Persona openings.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FkqUSkXbq2o "My Drive Thru” by BTaing8"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJPWdyL4p9A "Persona 4 Opening"

Who needs to edit anymore when you can put the opening on the timeline?

Actually, on a bit of a more serious note, I just think that having no limitations on how old the video is kind of defeats the purpose of having a yearly AMV contest or when the contest that may be stacked with videos that are from many years back. Besides, the whole point of the contest is to show more new stuff to the audience, otherwise it just becomes another AMV block of videos. For myself, I just would not feel right to send in all my old proven popular stuff that a lot of people have seen just for a spot in the finals instead of anything new that I feel might not be as good (but then again, a LOT of others probably will). You see where this is going? Honestly, I think maybe AX should consider a rule to at least limit the age of a video so not everything out there in AMV land is fair game every year.

This is one of the reasons I love you (besides View To a Kill)

But there's always that issue is that if something went terribly wrong with your entries, they get DQ'ed and you can send them again next year. Like what happened to mine.

Besides, no one seems to have pointed out there was a 3+ year old amv in the contest LAST YEAR and still won in it's category.

1 year old vids are okay, but 3+ something years is pushing it, I think... if there is a limit, it should be limited to 1 year to give those a chance who submitted and got DQ'ed to fix it the following year.

I guess no one remembers my rants from last year...

This isn't the first time I've touched this subject.

Fuck, if they claim that it's just too much work to check the entries, give me the damn list of finalists and I'll have their dates in 15 minutes. It's really NOT THAT HARD.

Maybe that should be your new job. :P

I honestly don't remember the commotion in last year's thread. << Please go ahead and shoot me.

I've got no problem with it. I'd happily take 20 minutes out of my day to make sure that these contests aren't giant cluster fucks. This year I'm organizing an Iron Chef, maybe next year I'll work on contests :/

I always thought AX had a rule about old videos. Guess I should read them rules more thoroughly... lol

Nope. Read anywhere in this thread or last years.

As long as you have made a video at some point in time, feel free to send it in. Especially if it's already won awards.
Everyone wants to be popular.
