Reason for Disqualification: Video contains credit bumpers.
So this means my video got disqualified? Fine... :| But why don't you just contact me about my disqualification via email? I mean I can still reupload the video, am I right?

That doesn't feel right without a notification :|
The disqualification is the contact. The status updates on the site, which you should be checking yourself, is how you are contacted about issues regarding your entry. And yes, as long as it is before the submission due date you can request another account and re-submit with a corrected version. Doing notifications this way keeps them from getting lost in the mail, as I have found often times that certain users have problems receiving emails from me no matter which account I send them from.

You should have checked the rules and your entry before submitting, as that too would have caused less work on both of our ends.

Aha. That wasn't clear for me. I still think that an email wouldn't harm.

Oh well I do check the rules all the time, that was why I was quite surprised to see that I obviously forgot something like that.

It's no real big deal, if I had seen you on IRC at the time I would have just let you know that way. Instead I used the system to inform you of the status of your entry. I suppose it isn't exactly clear in the rules anywhere of how exactly notifications are dealt with (other then the statement that the system is where status updates are) and I will make note of it to make it more clear for next year. Either way, disqualifications caught this early in the game are easily fixed as long as the user is willing to submit a corrected version of their entry (no 2nd entry form needs to be filled out.)

This is your friendly 1 week reminder. All entry forms and FTP requests are due within 1 week. As per our standard system, all entry forms and FTP requests must be submitted my Midnight October 10th Eastern Daylight Savings Time. This gives approximately 1 week and 8 hours from this posting.

From that point, all entrants with FTP accounts will have until the end of the weekend (aprox 48 hours) to get their videos submitted. All snail-mail entries must be received by Saturday October 10th at latest. I MAY allow up until Monday the 12th, but that is not a guarantee.

All FTP accounts that have been requested have been full filled by this point. If you have not received your account info it is your job to let me know. I will allow a few extra days for entrant who have problems with their entries to re-submit a corrected version, that is if your entry was submitted around the deadline. It is up to you to check your video's status for updates if there were any problems with your video(s) such as submitting an unaccepted format or bad audio/video quality or a broken upload. Such information will be posted in your video's status as soon as your video is checked. I will be updating all entries this weekend that have currently been submitted and have not been checked and marked for any errors.

Re: Youmacon 2009 Music Video Contest: < 10 Hours Left!!!

Post by ngsilver » Fri Oct 09, 2009 12:45 pm

This is your last reminder. The contest database will be closed for accepting new entry forms and FTP requests in a little over 10 hours. Get your last minute entries in!

Remember, you have 48 hours from the closing of the entry requests to submit your video via FTP. Also, you have until Monday for your snail-mail entries to be received. If your shipping via the postal service be ready to shell out for expedited shipping.

All FTP requests and received entries have been sent out and checked for adherence with the rules. Make sure to check your entries status to ensure your video passed inspection. You will be able to submit a corrected version (simply request a new FTP account) however you will not be given extra time in beyond what has already been given for FTP submissions. So make sure you read the rules carefully and make sure your submission meets the standards outlined before sending your file this close to the deadline.

Re: Youmacon 2009 Music Video Contest: Get your Vids FTP'ed!!

Post by ngsilver » Mon Oct 12, 2009 12:32 pm

Alright, all entries that will be are in. All videos have had their status updated according to the initial quality check. If your video has been disqualified, you have 2 days to contact me to arrange for a corrected version of your video to be sent in. We will not accept any more corrected versions after this time as we must begin our final quality check and pre-judging this weekend.

To request an ftp account for a corrected version simply click on the button for re-submit entry which can be found on the status screen if your video has been disqualified.

A listing of all videos that will compete at the con will be posted within 1 week of the con.
