Fans ALWAYS choose a "Comedy" video as their overall favorite. It's just the lowest common denominator, despite the fact we got votes for virtually every video - something funny always gets the most. What's most curious is that it seems the fan favorite is always the very last video shown in the contest, it was the same last year, and again this year.

yeah its probly because its the last thing the people remember. THe Naruto hell videos seem to go over well with the fans and it seem this year was the battle of the Naruto hells. Even though i think the "unplugged" was a bit better than "Pwned 2" the Pwned 2 couldn't have had a better spot than where it was. Had the videos been flipped i bet the outcome would have been different.

This year was just the way the submission ids worked out since we played everything in order of submission. Next year I intend to randomize the order and see what effect that has.
Douggie wrote: And also could someone tell me how the judging process went? I mean fans' choice - is that with a applaud-o-meter or random judges from the crowd?
For Fans' Choice, everything is done by ballot at the convention. Only con attendees are allowed to vote for the Fans' Choice, meaning that no judges are allowed to submit FC ballots. The logistics on getting 1000+ ballots back and counted mid-con are a bit of a nightmare, but everyone has fun with it so we keep doing it. :)
Douggie wrote: Can I ask what they've won?
Sure. Each winner receives a trophy and a certificate, and if they attend the convention or send a proxy they get swag too. Usually some free DVDs, toys, manga, etc. from our dealer sponsors. Next year we are probably going to have some different items up for grabs, but I haven't finalized the prize list or figured out the logistics yet. I'll post more on it as I get things a little more defined.

BTW, if you have a working address setup in your profile on the website, I will mail you your trophies and certificates. We will also hold them for you for two more years in case you intend to attend next year or the year after. Otherwise, you can email me from the website and I will work with you on getting them shipped out.

Awesome...I already have some ideas about our giveaway next year. Does this mean you might make it down here for the con? If not, I'm going to have to think about how I want to do this in case you win.

You shouldn't be. The vid was great. I wish you could have been there to see some of the judges faces when they finally figured out what you were doing. Priceless. Grats.
