What I'm trying to say is, if your only happiness is in winning, the whole experience of contests is going to be painful for you. Not because I think you're incapable of winning, but because inevitably, there will be contests you won't win, or won't even make the finalists. Every contest is different; the level of competition is different, the atmosphere is different, what the judges are looking for or what the audience enjoys will be different. In a race, whether you win or lose is largely based on your skill -- whether you've got the ability to be faster than everyone else. That's not the case in this sort of contest. There are too many subjective variables. If you don't even enjoy the process of making AMVs, you might want to consider a less painful pursuit of your free time. Strive to make the best videos you can, but if you're not having any fun with it unless someone hands you an award, what's even the point?

Not exactly. In terms of subjective variables, depending on how and how well you edit your AMV, you can influence or gravitate their favorable opinions to your video based on what they look for in certain categories. It takes skill and talent to make a good AMV that will impress judges. I can infer that most contest judges on the merit and wow factor of a video. Basically the skill in these competitions is in making the AMV itself, and how well its edited. In competition, I am pitting my editing skills against the best in the world; I already explained previously what the purpose of competition is: to prove who can do it the best, to determine who has better skill and talent. I do understand the criteria that judges look for vary in each different contest, so I make my videos accordingly. I also explained how we compete to win, which is why we compete to begin with. If competition weren't involved, it would just be a AMV film festival, not a AMV competition, right?

It's not that I don't enjoy making videos, its that I do enjoy making good videos. Most Importantly though, is that I have 6 years of experience as an amateur video producer, and with the video editing talent I am said to have by people I know personally, it leaves me with less and less excuses to slack off. I know how to make videos of varying complexity, for me it's a matter of executing the proper plan of action.

Hi All,

Keep those entries coming, we still need MORE... and don't forget about comedy! More trailers would be great and we almost have enough for their own category!

I fallen a little bit behind and will be out of town Saturday, but will catch-up confirmations Sunday to Monday

My comedy is sent. Hope you got it okay. :)
Since I already sent you a drama video, I tried to make this "entry 2" but it wouldn't let me so I had to send it as an entry 1 but please consider this my "Entry 2."
