That 25 minute maximum rule combined with open content is a dangerous thing.

Re: Youmacon 2015 Fan Art Theater Competition (AMV Contest)
We've gotten a large influx of new entries recently. As such I want to draw attention to this notice I posted earlier in the thread.

ngsilver wrote:A quick note as the website upload feature is new. We only accept entries submitted using the specific websites listed in the rules. Also, the link field in the entry form is for permanent links to your videos for viewers to access after the con in order to view your entries, as has been the case since we implemented that field and is called out multiple times in the rules as well as on the form. If you wish to submit an entry via the web upload option, please fill out the form in the entry status page. You can submit updates to that form as much as you desire, each time it will overwrite the listing currently in the database and it is only meant for the contest version.
All links submitted using other web storage sites, streaming sites, or attempts using the link field in the entry form will be ignored as submission attempts.
Not sure if it's called out in the rules anymore, but AWA used to have a 2 hour limit. We used to do 40mins actually. Figure 25 mins is enough to get a good gamut of videos from each editor and in the end every video submitted competes against every other video. Also, I like forcing my judges to watch through hours on end of videosRider4Z wrote:That 25 minute maximum rule combined with open content is a dangerous thing.

Re: Youmacon 2015 Final Deadline Sept 30th!
One note to everyone who has submitted entries with web links over the past few days and anyone planning to submit over the next few weeks up to the deadline. I had planned to download videos while I was out on vacation during downtime onto my home server remotely. Unfortunately right now the server appears to be down, or at least it is having network connectivity issues making it impossible to remotely manage. Sadly I have no way to troubleshoot from over 1k miles away...
Fear not, the entry system captures your web links and saves them. If the system does not come back while I am away I WILL download and process once I am back in town after AWA. Anyone who submitted/submits an entry via web-link by the deadline will be allowed to re-submit if there are issues with your link once I return as I do understand that some links have time limits to them. Just be sure to use the web link field in the entry status page for your entries and get that filled out before the deadline. (That is, submit your entry and fill out the form before 11:59 pm EDT on Sept 30th)
I apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your entries.

Re: Youmacon 2015 Final Deadline Sept 30th!
A note for those of you who will be at AWA, I have in tow with me awards. If I noticed that you were going to be at the con, namely you posted in the dinner thread, I made sure to bring your awards with me. I've got quite a few since it seems this is a pretty good year for editor attendance at AWA. I'll try to have the awards with me during the meetup before the dinner on Thursday but will keep any I have in my room. If I have it with me I want to present it to you personally.
For those that I missed or forgot, when I get back home I plan to verify addresses and ship out the remainder awards I have left that are for those of you in the US.

Re: Youmacon 2015 Deadline Extended! Oct 3rd!
Quick announcement to everyone who is still on the fence for submitting entries or those wondering if they'll have time to finish.
The final deadline for Web-Link uploads has been extended to October 3rd. That is to say, all entries must be in our hands by 11:59pm EDT on October 3rd. As soon as 12:00am/00:00/Midnight strikes on October 4th EDT all submissions will be closed and no further requests will be allowed.
Please remember that in order to use the web-link submission method you must fill out an entry form and then go to the entry status page and enter the web address where your entry is stored into the field there. Please note I will be doing basic quality checking of entries and status update emails will go out as I get them, however it is always safe to check the entry status page for the most up-to-date status on your entries. If there are issues there will be a short period allowed for resubmission's in order to fix issues as in previous years.
A quick note on entry status:
Entry Unviewed - a human has not looked at the entry form
Entry Form Received - a human has looked at the form and knows you submitted info on your entry
Video Received - your video has been received by staff and no problems were found in the encoding (video plays back without issues on our equipment)
Video Checked - your video has passed first round of quality check and will compete in the competition
Video Accepted - your video has passed second round quality check and was accepted by the judges to be played at the convention
Accepted for Overflow - your video has passed second round quality check and did not pass the judges mark in order to be played at the convention. The video will remain in our archive and is available to be played at-con during request blocks.
Problems Found - there are issues with your entry, full info can be found in the coordinator comments section. This is most often paired with the DQ(disqualified) flag but doesn't automatically mean disqualification.

Re: Youmacon 2015 Deadline Extended! Oct 3rd!
I apologize for the delay (I had to rebuild my server after getting home cuz' the 12 year old system drive finally failed on me) but all submitted entries have been processed as of this time. If you submitted an entry you should have received notification via email from the system of your entries status. If you did not receive an email I urge you to check the entry status page as it is the most up-to-date. There were a number of upload requests missing a link. Please ensure you have properly filled out the web-link form and submit to ensure we receive your entry. I will be sending out an email reminder to all entrants whom we are still missing entries for. Please remember that you have until 11:59 PM EDT tonight (oct 3rd) to submit your web-link.
When submitting a web link, please check the entry status page after submission to ensure that a link is shown in the form. If it is not then the system did not accept the link and as such we will not receive/download your entry!
A note on re-submissions and link issues:
As per previous years, we will allow a short period of time for re-submissions if there are problems with your entries (invalid codecs, broken/locked links, ect.) This courtesy will be extended to all entrants who have had issues. The re-submission deadline is Oct 7th, and as such re-submissions will no longer be accepted after 11:59 PM EDT on Oct 6th. Only 1 resubmission attempt will be allowed per entry after the normal submission deadline, however unlimited resubmissions are allowed up until the deadline tonight. Also note, this courtesy is only given to entrants who submitted a link/video in the first place. If you failed to complete the weblink form before the normal deadline tonight your entry will be DQ'ed and no resubmission will be allowed. This is not a deadline extension, this time is for the few individuals who had issues with their submissions.
Keep in mind all you need to do to re-submit is to update the link in the web-link form on the entry status page.

This is why I dislike dropbox, it gives unknown problems. xD
I hope the coordinators would accept mediafire in the future, as I prefer mediafire it being more reliable.
