I certainly agree here, hence why I and others made a conscious effort to pose our arguments very articulately and with respect, as opposed to being like "DUDE WTF ACEN IS GAY GIVE US WHAT WE WANT DKFJDLKFJLGJFGLJKJ". I also stated in my post that I did not know what the room situation was, and that I was only going on an assumption, and that if the assumption was wrong, I would be perfectly pleased.

If anything, I did want to at least create some amount of action and response from the ACen staff. It certainly has nothing to do with our faith in you or Julius. I think you guys have done a great job, but I have also been in a staffers position where the con staff has been less than helpful based off of their perception of how important certain events are, when in fact they're paramount (basically meaning, I would understand if you guys had already done everything you could, so I figured it could certainly help if a larger group of voices also made themselves heard).

I apologize if the post offended you or looked like just a bunch of "internet kids" whining about not getting what they wanted, cause it was definitely the contrary. We simply want the AMV events at ACen to be given the support they deserve and for your guys' hard work to be given more emphasis.

I have no problem with the content. It's just the timing is really bad from my perspective. Some may just catch word of a rumor spreading about Acen AMV contest seating problems and then without reading any of the content reply to the thread with a bunch of BS. There are enough people whispering stuff around that all it takes is even the hint of AMV contest may have problems to set them off. The typical mob mentality can be so bad that I made those replies. It's the trolls and rumor-monger internet kiddies showing up whom I'm worried about not you guys. After certain cosplay discussions in recent months I'm worried about some alarmists looking for something else to cause drama over.

If anything it was my pride being wounded as the constructive talk I have long desired finally comes later than I had desired it. I can be pretty conceited :) In honesty there is more I should have done to approach the rest of you and get this ball rolling two years ago.

Back to the positive,

We have a lot of new programming this year and I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out. We also have a Sunday freeplay segment from 10:00-13:00 which can be converted to a 4th contest replay. We will do our best to show the contest to as many as we can.

Well, we are still finalizing the schedule for panels. However currently we have a Friday afternoon AMV showing in a MUCH BIGGER room than what the amv room will be. Yes the time will not be ideal but I am fighting to keep the contest in the room we have it right now. Once the schedule is in stone on this I will be glad to say where and when.

But yes I do say that you need to complain to management on such matters but be articulate give reasons and just don't approach it from a me me me standpoint. But it is important that the paying customers make their voices heard.

And do this after the convention for the love of god. Last thing I need is a fire to break out. We're going to be assembling the contest and view all the amvs this friday, which is stressful enough without having to reassure people that everything is fine.
Gimme a minute, I'll make a cool one....

Oh, could you guys post all the videos played in the contest and not just the winners, that would be nice for the "also rans" :D

I myself will also make some extra effort to try and get the room we had last year for the first amv showing (its a longshot, but I will try) Additionally I am going to try my best to keep a runnind tab on the occupancy of the room every hour throughout the convention to see what kind of space needs that we require. (because if only the amv contest packs the room past maximum occupancy then I'd probably only get a bigger place for that showing)
That's a good idea ab out the count.. and take photos when the room is full! I did that at Sakura-Con as the AMV room I got had only 120 seats... It was so packed that we took stats and pictures and asked people for feedback inbetween showings (of which all shouted back, get a bigger room)... At the end, the director of Programming came to see us and looks like next year we will have a MUCH bigger room!

But year, bugging exec during the con is not the best way...

I apologize as well for jumping to conclusions. Last year I did post about the amv room following the con on the ACEN boards. I can't remember if it was a specific thread you asked people to post in, though I think it was a general gripe thread that users were appending their experiences with con staff actively replying. It seems posts from last year were purged so I can't really double check... If I have any issues this year, I'll make sure to wait for you guys to point us to a specific thread...

I agree keeping count will help quite a bit. Rather then taking pictures I had my ADH at Youmacon grab our Con Chair and have him see the packed rooms himself last year and it in the end got AMVs it's own room this coming year. I myself really want to see a good data sheet on how packed the room really gets, since I only seem to remember when it is really full during our major events.
