KATSUCON 17 AMV CONTEST NEED COMEDY & ROMANCE (1/29/11)

I'm not sure what the exact conditions for it happening are. It seems computers and newer tvs are more immune...and I know that at a contest if they direct output from the pc to the projector it doesn't happen. I just rather would be safe then sorry and always make sure my stuff falls in the limits. But since I've started paying attention to it, at cons I go to I always notice it on my videos.

I have burned several videos to DVDs in the past, and never noticed any loss of image - but I WAS watching on a PC. Is it just playback on TVs, especially older TVs that do this? Projectors?

Yes, it's a problem with projectors and standard-def TVs. PCs and HDTVs should not be affected (dunno about HD projectors).

Of course we'd rather the editors be there to collect personally but you know...

Yeah, it makes me very sad that I won't be able to attend, mainly because it will be the first contest I've entered that I won't be able to attend, something I like to do on principle alone, even for the ones I don't make finalist in.

Good luck to all the contestants! I will be with you in spirit, and once the finalist list gets posted, I will watch each and every one that's available on the org or elsewhere!

It's starting to look that way.
But I can promise next year this will not be the case as results will be posted a week before.
No sooner.

But does this mean that it is confirmed we will not have the list by the time we leave for the con, or is there still a plan to post the finalists?

Although it does make me sad that the list was not posted (though i still hope that it will be despite most have already left) I understand the stress and complications that arise when putting something like this together and feel it's more important to actually HAVE a contest . I wish every one of the other participants good luck and hope those who are going have fun! Though I do hope that those going would be kind enough to report back about how my entry is recieved! I would greatly appreciate it! Here's hopping next year will be more organized
