Yeah, I've experienced this before. I might have a work around. Details later.outlawed wrote:That's not the issue. It has to do what happens with the video when it is compressed to MPEG-2. You cannot take the raw audio source and have it maintain sync after the MPEG-2 compression is done. The audio must be run through your MPEG-2 compression program with the video at the same time (either muxing together our outputting 2 elementary streams) or you cannot maintain sync.Willen wrote:I assume the audio offset isn't 1 second?
I didn't think about this issue because in all honesty I never approached handling audio this way before with MPEG-2. My flaw was treating this as if I was dealing with two avi editing-codec files and this is not the case.
If you want to visually understand what happens:
Take some segment and encode it to mpeg-2 with audio. Make another copy of this by muxing the mpeg-2 video stream with the uncompressed source audio. Compare.

If it is the same as last year, I'm thinking the huge number of editors in attendance this year will fill half of the room by themselves. ...or at least a good quarter of it. x_xAtomX wrote:No kidding :\ If its the same as last year, we're gonna have a MAJOR space issue, even with 3 showings.....Koopiskeva wrote:I really hope the amv room is of good size this time around if both showings are in it.

No kidding o_o I mean, I honestly am not anticipating the AMV room to be different (or bigger) than the one last year. In all likelihood it's probably the same room (then again, it could just continue the trend of the past 3 years and then it WOULD be in a smaller room). The main thing I'm concerned with is the contest showing. I understand that not all of them can be in a ballroom, but I would expect that at least ONE of them (most likely the main one on Friday) could be in one. I'm not even thinking the main ballroom. The room that we had last year was perfect and it was nearly full, and it was at least 5x the size of the main AMV room... I mean, do the con scheduling staff just not KNOW that the contest showing brings in a huge audience? o_O It seems like an extremely big oversight if this is the case.Corran wrote:If it is the same as last year, I'm thinking the huge number of editors in attendance this year will fill half of the room by themselves. ...or at least a good quarter of it. x_xAtomX wrote:No kidding :\ If its the same as last year, we're gonna have a MAJOR space issue, even with 3 showings.....Koopiskeva wrote:I really hope the amv room is of good size this time around if both showings are in it.

Now, if the trade-off IS that the main room is indeed bigger, than I think I'll be more comfortable with it, but even still. I foresee space issues as being imminent.
