Fantastic, I'll be entering again. XP Hopefully my video will get something better than last place in it's category this time around (as opposed to Otakon.)

Just to check, Vic, the AUSA rules say that submitting on an authored DVD isn't recommended, but again, that seems to be my best method. Will this be acceptable at all, or is sending in an authored DVD tantamount to committing contest suicide?

Authored DVD is fine. I wrote the book on ripping, so I know how to get your mpeg off the disc. Only reasons that I suggest against it is because:
a) It's more work for me
b) People who don't know what they're doing muck up the conversion from their rendered video -> DVD video and then blame me when their video is out of sync/scaled funny/interlaced in all the wrong places/etc.

Why thank you Vic, sorry to cause you more trouble, but for reasons that continue to elude me, this proves most effective for me now.

...So, the deadline for getting stuff sent in passed Saturday. Anyone know when the judges are gonna watch the videos?

Sorry to be impatient. :)

I am planning to have them ready for evaluation this weekend. It depends if I can pressure Gambitt into helping host the prescreening ;) We got 65 submission forms, although I just got home from AWA and do not know how many of those actually have videos too, as some people submit the form and never send the video.

I just re-read the rules for AMV submission to AnimeUSA to make sure I did everything right, and I'm not sure if I made the deadline or not. I did submit a form and uploaded my video to the FTP. Didn't have a chance to submit it for Otakon, so hopefully it'll make it in for this convention.

When will we most likely know the finalists for the contest?

I'm looking forward to AUSA in general since that was my very first anime con 5 years ago and probably still one of my favorites to this day, though I actually liked when it was at the Sheraton Premiere in Tyson's Corner before, but still it's a fun con.
