If he does that, I may have to rearrange my plans and enter a different category... It would be entirely too funny to see him win with that video...
Which is why I won't enter it :-P

That's probably the case.... With three big showings as in 2002, there were about 750-800 people who managed to turn in their votes, so only having two big showings in 2003 with about 500 votes being turned in makes sense. I'd say it's about the same proportion of votes for the size of the viewing audience.

It seems kind of odd that , since Otakon realizes the popularity of AMVs (they show the overflow usually twice ) that they would give the AMV contest such a crappy time slot .
i mean hell .... the masquerade gets a primetime slot , are we less respected than cosplayers?

I hope otakon 2004 seriously takes this into consideration.

later.

I myself do not consider the AMV Contests time slots to be crappy. For the Friday night showing, even though it starts around 11:00 PM, that, combined with Mystery Anime Theater 3000, makes up an excellent double feature that is on my "must attend" list every year I go to Otakon. For the Saturday showing, the staff at Otakon wants to give people who only attend Otakon on Saturday a chance to see the contest, but they also want to have the ballots in by a certain time so that way they can announce the winners during the cosplay intermission (thus why the Saturday showing is at 1:00 PM). Finally, there's one more thing to consider: this year, unlike earlier Otakons, there was no Friday afternoon showing of the AMV contest, which does attract people who arrive at the con Friday morning.

Maybe it'll be earlier on Friday evening next year since there's no more MAT3K. :(

Geez, that makes it sound like the whole convention is run by some cohesive Illuminati-style alien super-intellect that's promulgating some subtle but inescapable New World Order that will sweep away the last remnants of The Old Republic--er, I mean the decadent and corrupt Western Powers... uh... comrades. Um... yeah. That's it.

Then we could make all our AMVs in 1080p... with eight channel sound... and crush our enemies before us... hear the lamentation of their women... never get stuck in the slow lane at the grocery store... achieve total domination over death, matter, and energy....

Sigh... If only we were that organized... gosh, wouldn't all of that stuff be pretty swell?

1. This year, the most-voted category was the Romantic/Sentimental, which is unique considering that the Upbeat and Comedy categories are usually the most popular choices.
You under-estimate the power of having me in the category. :ducks:

I am SO kidding when I say that.
Since it started at 11pm, I think ppl just fell asleep during/after the first video then woke up later and just voted for the first one by default.

What time did it end anyways?

You know, you're not the first one to say this. I know some damn cannucks who have said the same. Get more creative next time :-P

It ended around 1:15 or so.

Just wanted to voice an opinion on a couple things.

1. I only agreed with one of the winners of the contest. Won't say which.

2. I honestly think the Angel Sanctuary/Forbidden Glory vid was severely underrated and should've at least got an honorable mention. For some reason, it just struck a chord with me.

Ah well, congrats to all the winners and congrats to most of the entrants on making some excellent vids to view.
