Archon this year is going to be a little different. Allow me to explain...
There is a convention called Worldcon, which happens in different locations. This year, Worldcon is in Yokohama, Japan. Whenever Worldcon is not in a North American country, there is a convention in North America to take its place. That convention is called NASFIC - The North American Science Fiction International Convention.
However, since NASFIC is occasional, rather than annual, it relies on other conventions to make it work. Once a Worldcon is announced to be outside of North America (usually a few years prior to it's date), convetions in North America start "bidding" on who will get to be NASFIC that time. This time, it's Archon.
That's the specifics. What this means to Archon attendees is that there will be more people, more guests, more programming, a higher door price, and the con will happen on a different date than usual. Archon is usually the 1st weekend of October. This year, because it's NASFIC, it is happening the first weekend of August.

How does all this affect the A MV contest? There's more programming, more guests, and more panels, and this means that some of the less popular panels have to be sacrificed. Ultimately, V ideo Room 3 over in the convention center, which was used for the A MV contest as well, was cancelled, and we were only left with the two main video rooms in the hotel. One v ideo room is going to be 24 hour sci-fi, and the other is going to be 24-hour a nime. These rooms are not situated in such a manner that a contest would be very easy to do in them, so instead we are having an A MV exhibition.
Here's the deal
The A MV exhibition is going to be 2 hours long, and will include submissions from people who want their A MVs shown at the con. Based on crowd reactions, there will be 2 prizes given away to the 2 favorites of the v ideos submitted. (Obviously if I throw Euphoria or Odorikuru into the mix, they'll be favorites, but won't count because they were picked by me.)
Rules for submission
Submission is easy! Just PM me a link to your video's info here on the org, and I'll download it and put it in the mix for Archon. Your video has to have a premiere date of no earlier than November of 2006 to be eligible for a prize. Older videos will be accepted and shown, but won't be used when determining who gets a prize.
Prizes
The prizes will be a mix of things, including but not limited to, a DVD compliments of ADV Films, A $10.00 Borders gift card, and a DVD packed with A MVs that were shown at the convention. Other prizes may include things like an Archon T-Shirt, so please include your shirt size when submitting your entry.
Last year's contest winners
If you have not received your prize yet, please PM or email me with your address information, and your prizes will be mailed off!
