Yes, it sounds very familiar.

It kind of went without notice though...
I remember seeing it too in the General AMV section...
I was interested in doing something in it but it was only for invited groups =(
How do people get invited to it anyway?

CPM is hardly a very organized company. But yes, if they would like trailers for their properties it would certainly be in their best interest to promote it openly more than 2 days before the deadline.

Heck with some of the encoding on some shows it would take 2 days to run avisynth scripts to fix the interlacing and rainbowing.
... Word on this has apparently been out since september, just not here...

.... well as i pulled from this it says...
CPM Contest wrote: The Otaku Invitational is, as the name suggests, by invitation only. Just 20 teams from across the internet will be able to compete! But while we think we have a good handle on who to invite, we don't pretend that we know everybody on the internet. That's why we've left open some slots... maybe for you.
i guess that means there is still hope for a new team?
only thing is, their not specific enough bout what exactly they want... so i guess we just throw a trailer together for one of the shows on the list?? although with certain shows... i dunno... and it says that each team make a trailer for each show... does that mean that they tell us which show to make a trailer to?? its all confusing because we dont even know if we should waste our time to do a trailer to this only to enter it and have them say "oh, you werent on the invite list" or "oh that show is taken, sorry" invite only is for chumps and posers...

PUSHED BACK to November 3

Post by a2skinneeJ » Wed Oct 25, 2006 11:34 am

Hey guys-
We're pushing back the deadline for the CPM Otaku Invitational submissions to November 3rd. We currently only have 6 entries, so everyone has a great chance of winning (plus it's user voting). Email me at kcain@tapin.net if you are interested in submitting and I can answer any questions you have. I hope everyone can make a great trailer/music video in that time, and I look forward to seeing them all. We have prize packs for every member of your production team (up to 5), so the winners will get several thousands of dollars worth of DVDs and memorabilia. Thanks,

Kevin Cain
Tap Interactive, in conjunction with Central Park Media and Kaneva.com

Can teams be of only one person? Gererally, most editors here work on videos individually...

Also, I assume that you still have to live in the US to enter and excludes Canada?
