Yaoicon Deadline 9-14

Post by The Wired Knight » Wed Sep 13, 2006 1:49 pm

Just a warning to all entering. The postmark deadline for the Yaoicon AMV contest is tommorow. So if you have something be sure to get it in the mail ASAP.

I would like to suggest a change in the 'rules' for next year. Since there are now PLENTY of Yaoi/shonen-ai themed animes out there, and they are easy to get, you may want to change that rule next year. It use to be hard, but now...well I can't keep up with them all, which is saying something.

Wait, you mean change the postmark date or the fact that it is a postmark date?

I was probably going to change it to be a "in my hands by x" date as this way I don't have to guess as to when there are no more in the mail for whatever reason.

I wonder if Anneke is referring to this part of the Submission Rules?

"Footage used in the video should be from anime series/movies/OAVs and keep with the convention or contest theme or be of shounen-ai/yaoi nature. ..."

Personally I'd prefer to keep the contest theme available because I work better with suggested ideas. Even with an abundance of shounen-ai anime or anime with characters in a possible shounen-ai relationship (real or imagined), ideas don't just jump out at me.

If it's regarding the postmark: I started my amv the second week in July and as a result of unexpected travel and family circumstances, I was not able to finish it until two days ago. Thank goodness for YSI. But since I don't know how to put my amv in an MPEG-2 format, thank goodness for the postmarked submission.

I'm blathering happily, this is what averaging 4 hours of sleep a night for the past two weeks will do to me.
"Didn't I say something clever earlier?"
"Dunno, I was probably asleep when you said it."

I thought about that too but I decided the theme will stay for a couple of reasons.

1. For whatever reason someone doesn't have shounen ai or yaoi anime
2. It provides more variety for videos entered. The theme creates some extra videos that are just kind of fun without completely binding to the yaoi theme.
3. Discrepency as to what is "shonen ai" the rule states that shounen ai or yaoi themed but then if I take out the theme I therby have to work harder to interpret if Kenshin, Gundam Wing, Yuu yuu hakusho etc videos qualify for the con or not.
4. It provides me with ideas for outfits :P
