Hey gang;
Just wanted to toss this out- there's an AMV contest at ConnectiCon this year (http://www.ConnectiCon.org/) but only three entries have been received. If not enough AMVs are received, there will be no contest again this year. You don't have to even be attending ConnectiCon to enter, so please read the rules below and send in those AMVs! Any questions, email me at b.benn@ConnectiCon.org
Categories:
Best Comedy
Best Action
Best Drama
Best Editing
Prizes:
Winners of each category will receive two 3-Day memberships to ConnectiCon 2006 (July 21-23, 2006), a Certificate of Achievement indicating their prowess at creating fantastic AMVs and other prizes to be decided. If prizes cannot be received at the convention in person or by proxy the Certificate of Achievement will be mailed to the winner(s) of their respective categorie(s).
Rules:
1. Entries must be received by July 1st, 2005.
2. Prizes awarded must be received in person or by proxy at the convention.
4. Each person may submit up to three (3) AMVs. No more than 2 for any category.
5. Entries must be a minimum of 1 minute and no longer than 6 minutes.
6. Entries must be suitable for under-18. This includes both the audio and video footage. If it couldn't be seen on basic cable, don't bother sending it in- unless you just want to give us a thrill!
7. You may not use subtitled footage. Make sure you have a dub or original Japanese with no English text. You may add your own subtitles for effect, if you would like.
Format:
The following formats will be accepted:
PAL
VHS
DVD-R
DVD+R
DVD
All video must be NTSC.
VHS tapes need to be recorded in SP mode on a new, blank tape for quality reasons. Make sure your video is not cut off in any way. You may want to record around 15 seconds at the beginning and end of the video to ensure this doesn't happen.
Submission:
To submit an AMV, please send in a tape or DVD to the address included below:
ConnectiCon
179 Norton St, 2nd Floor
New Haven, CT 06511
Include with entry:
Name
Address
E-mail
Phone Number
Anonymous entries will not be submitted into the contest. Please do not send us your master copy, as entries will not be returned.
The AMV must contain information on the anime(s) used, artist name, and song title, and if applicable, video name at the beginning. Including this information at the end is optional.
ConnectiCon (July 15-17) NEEDS AMV Submissions!!

PAL is a video format, like NTSC but used in a different region of the world. It is not a distribution format, and a PAL video can not be submitted "as NTSC."
Do you specifically want DVD submissions formatted as video DVD, or are you simply asking for data DVDs? If data DVDs, are data CD-Rs also acceptable?
Also, listing "DVD" in addition to "DVD+R" and "DVD-R" is unnecessary, as I doubt anyone is going to press their own DVD for a contest. All DVD entries you receive will be on either DVD+R or DVD-R.

That's quite a large pain in the ass. Why can't you guys make the bumpers yourselves? Easier than forcing editors to make new MPEG2s to include the song/artist/anime info...Jengalill wrote:The AMV must contain information on the anime(s) used, artist name, and song title, and if applicable, video name at the beginning. I read that as "the information must be included with the video," not as "the information must be a part of the video."dokool wrote:That's quite a large pain in the ass. I could be wrong, though.

Because she specified 'at the beginning' and said that 'at the end is optional', I think I've got the correct reading.jbone wrote:I read that as "the information must be included with the video," not as "the information must be a part of the video."dokool wrote:That's quite a large pain in the ass. Sounds like a lazy coordinator to me.
