AMV Hell fanart/photoshop contest!

Post by Zarxrax » Sat Nov 06, 2004 4:48 pm

Calling all artists! We have decided that we can work some funny anime pics into AMV Hell 3 and AMV Hell 0! Here's whats going on:

1. The objective of this contest is to make FUNNY images featuring anime characters. Short animations can be accepted as well. But remember that the key here is FUNNY!

2. Artwork can be either drawn from scratch, or a modification of an existing image that you found somewhere. DO NOT SUBMIT SOMEONE ELSE'S WORK AS YOUR OWN. Anyone caught trying to submit something that someone else made will be publicly ridiculed.

3. The best entries will be selected and played during the credits of one of the upcoming AMV Hell videos.

4. To submit your entry, simply send an email to amvhell@gmail.com with the subject line "AMV HELL ART", and attatch your image to the email. Its recommended that the size of the images be as large as necessary, but please no excessively large images. I can't see a need for a submission to be larger than say... 800x600.

FAQ:

Q: I sort of changed a picture that I found a little bit, but I don't want to be accused of stealing someone else's work! How much does an image have to be modified before its considered our own?

A: This is a very good question. Basically, as long as the "idea" of the original is changed somewhat, you are fine. For example, you could take a simple screen shot from an anime, and simply add a funny caption to it, and you will be fine. You've changed the "idea" of the image.
An example of whats NOT ok: Downloading some funny image off 4chan or somewhere, like Chiyo-chan going super saiyan. You change the color of her eyes or something, then try to submit it. If you try something like this we are just gunna throw you in the Hell Hole(TM). If you drew your OWN picture of chiyo-chan going super saiyan though, that would be acceptable.
We are reasonable people, we aren't gunna kill you over something thats borderline, but we may probably wont show your image in the video either.

Would this picture be acceptable? I personally find her vacant spacy glazed eyes kinda funny. I was thinking of making the eyes glow red before submiting the pic though.
