If you do it via php, you could easily make star things clickable...

Not exactly the same thing, but pretty close. Hope this helps.

Something along this line of thought, you really dont need clickable stars (though it would be nice) just the location of the con along with the name would be enough. This would help me to know which cons I can actually get to because Cali is a bit big for me to try and run to LA for a con when I have to be back in SF the next dayrubyeye wrote:Not a bad looking map. I had an idea about this but what I'd really like to see are the actual locations on the map itself, like star marks or something (along with the name of the con) showing the general location and having those areas clickable/linked to the websites.

I agree, I like what you've done so far, but to make it look even better, and give a general idea of where the con is located, this is a nice idea. Something similar to what Sixflags does on their website to show the locations to their atractions in diferent states. you can see it on the pick a park page at http://www.sixflags.com/pick_a_park1.aspImmorrel wrote:Something along this line of thought, you really dont need clickable stars (though it would be nice) just the location of the con along with the name would be enough. Ofcourse doing it exactly like theirs will take ALOT of work, both in programming and image editing. Its just to give an idea ^_^

If you know flash its also easy to do it in that. Probably easier than in php.SQ wrote:If you do it via php, you could easily make star things clickable...

If I had more free time, I'd offer to convert it to flash for ya.

I have the cities listed next to the cons for the Canada map. I plan on doing it for the US map too.Immorrel wrote:Something along this line of thought, you really dont need clickable stars (though it would be nice) just the location of the con along with the name would be enough. Really? Wow! Thanks for the high compliment!WilLoW :--) wrote:I think it should be integrated into .org's database (something to add to the todo list) to make updates easier.

Ugh. Thanks for the link, but PHP makes my brain hurt. I'll stick with Java and DHTML.SQ wrote:If you do it via php, you could easily make star things clickable...

Hey, if anyone reading this knows how to make a link box pop up using a mouseover technique that can be intagrated into an image map please let me know. I'd give you full credit of course!

And Willow: I do plan on adding Europe in the near future.
