Anime Boston 2026 AMV Contest - Finalists!

Post by LantisEscudo » Sat Jan 03, 2026 1:15 am

Hello, everyone!

I'm happy to announce that submissions for Anime Boston's Anime Music Video Contest are open for 2026!

The quick high points:
  • Submission deadline is 11:59 PM Eastern Time, February 21st, 2026
  • Freshness limit is one year before the convention - Videos may not have publicly premiered before April 3, 2026
  • Videos must adhere to a PG-13 content rating
  • Videos must be between 60 seconds and 5 minutes in duration (15-60 seconds for the Shorts category)
  • Editors may submit a maximum of two videos to the six full-length categories (either as an individual or as part of a collaboration), and up to five videos to the Shorts category
  • Editors may only submit one video per category (other than Shorts)
  • Generative AI content is prohibited
You can find the full rules here.

There are separate forms for the full-length categories and the Shorts category to make it easier to submit multiple videos at once:
Full Length Category Submission Form
Shorts Submission Form

I know I say it every year, but it's still always true that every year that I'm surprised by what people come up with to submit, and I can't wait to see what new surprises are coming this year.

Thanks in advance to everyone, and best of luck to all of you.

Re: Anime Boston 2026 AMV Contest (deadline 2/21/26) - Last Day to Submit!

Hi, everyone!

Just a reminder, there's just under 24 hours left to submit, so please get your entries in as soon as possible!

As a heads up, spam filters have been blocking the upload instructions email for a larger number of people than usual this year, so if you don't get it within a few minutes of submitting the form, please reach out to me to have it manually re-sent to you.

Thank you to everyone who's submitted so far!

Hello! Is the submission server down? I submitted the online form but never received an email with the submission instructions and the same thing happened to my friend who also filled out the form. Thank you!

As I mentioned in my earlier post, spam filters have been blocking the instruction email for a decent number of people. I've manually resent the email to you; please ask your friend to reach out to me to have theirs resent as well.

I'll send a blast round of manual resends to everyone who has submitted but not uploaded later this evening as well, just in case.

Overflow Showing

Videos that were not selected as finalists for the 2026 AMV Contest will be shown all day on Sunday in the Fan Creations Track (Hynes 312).

We do have more videos than we can play even in that amount of time, so we would like to prioritize showing videos by editors in attendance. If you are attending the convention, you can speak to anyone at the tech desk at the front of the room during the showing to have your videos moved up in the queue to be played or to be replayed if you missed them earlier in the showing.

AMV Editors Dinner

If you will be attending Anime Boston and will be in town Thursday evening, please consider joining us at the AMV Editors Dinner at 6:30PM at the Pressed Cafe on Huntington Street. This is an unofficial event, open to everyone in the editing community. For details and to RSVP, please see the thread in the Anime Boston Forums: https://forums.animeboston.com/viewtopi ... =6&t=40896

Fan Creations Track

We've got a whole weekend of blocks of AMVs and other Fan Creations planned for this year's convention. If you'll be attending, please stop by the Fan Creations Track in Hynes 312 and check out what we have to offer. You can follow any of Anime Boston's social channels to see the full schedule when it gets announced (usually 1-2 weeks before the con starts).

Thank you again to everyone who submitted this year. Without your entries, there would literally be no contest to show. I know I say it every year, but it continues to be true: I'm always surprised at the amazing work that gets sent to us, and we truly appreciate it.
