ANIMETHON 2025 AMV Contest

Runnning since 2003! This year Animethon is back on Auguest 8-10, 2025.

DEADLINE: Saturday, June 21, 2025

QUICK RULES SUMMARY (Full set of rules can be found HERE):

NOTE: This year we have added a "Shorts" category and have changed our rules to accept all animation!

• The duration limits for each submission are as follows:
--- AMV Entries: 90 seconds minimum, 6 minutes maximum.
--- Trailers, Commercials or Intros: 30 seconds minimum, 3 minutes & 30 seconds maximum.
--- Shorts: 30 seconds minimum, 90 seconds maximum.
• No more than 2 entries per person/group. NO limits for "shorts"
• No subtitles, watermarks, logos, text, or credits.
• Must not have premiered before September 1st, 2024.
• All animation is now accepted, including manga and personally created animation (AI Animation not accepted).
• The audio content of all AMV entries must primarily be music. (ONLY Trailers, Commercials, and Intros are exempt).
• Must be age 14+ appropriate.
• AMV-Hell style entries will not be accepted.
• No music and/or dialogue generated by voice-cloning technologies (deepfake audio).
• Entries created using Machine Learning technologies (AI) and not the creation of the entrant may be disqualified.
• Must satisfy our technical requirements.

As the contest will be two hours in length, all accepted entries will be judged by a panel of judges to determine the finalists.


SUMMARY OF AWARDS

AMV fixed categories have been eliminated and replaced with a larger number of elements that make up the essence of the AMV (i.e. Dramatic, Artistic, Parody, Trailer, Effect Oriented, etc.) found on the entry form. Once all entries have been received after the deadline, all the selected elements will be tabulated and all accepted entries will be grouped into the top six most common categories for judging.

"Submission Name" would be the name of the video you're submitting. Most people keep it the same as the song title, but you are welcome to call it whatever you want

Uh-oh. Well. My submission is titled "Transcendental." I think I mistakenly labeled it with my competitor name which is TwistVid.

Hi Everyone,

After much hard deliberation from the judges, here is a list of the finalists by credit name. Also listed are those in the pre-show, which are the videos that play just prior to the start of the contest during seating.

The Contest is scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 9 starting with the pre-show at 11:30 AM in Main Events. The winners will be shown and announced at 3:30PM Sunday, August 10 in Main Events.

We will also be showing all the accepted non-finalist videos in the AMV Room on Sunday, August 10 starting at 10 AM. Thanks to everyone who entered.
