Thy Geekdom Con AMV Contest
***Update 5/1/2021***
Hello AMV artists,
We have received a great turnout on submissions so far and are really excited about our AMV contest this year. However, we feel a few categories could use a few more submissions. If you haven’t submitted yet and have an AMV for the Upbeat or Horror category we would be more than happy to take in some more submissions in those two categories. If you considering submitting to our contest but don't think your entry meets all of our requirements we encourage you to either reach out to us or submit it anyway as we may still accept the submission into our contest.
In addition, for any submissions for the Upbeat and Horror, we are extending the submission deadline to May 7, 2021 at 11:59PM EST. We look forward to seeing your AMVs and your participation in our contest!

If you’re short on upbeat you may consider nixing this rule.

Hello Rider4Z,
For this year we would accept shorter entries. We want to encourage artists to reach out if they are concerned about if their submission doesn't meet the criteria. We are considering officially lowering the time requirement for this rule and will do our best to better communicate with possible entrants to reach out to us or submit anyway and we will determine if it can work for our contest for following years contests.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

So I think there's some confusion with this wording regarding what content is allowed. I had initially interpreted the second quoted statement to mean that only animated sources that were anime-inspired were eligible, but after looking at the AMV Showdown rules page it seems more clear that any animated source is allowed regardless of its regional art style.

It might be a good idea to make this distinction more explicit on both this forum post and the google forms sheet which uses the exact same wording (including the sentence in the first quote, "an animated or video games" which is either missing the word "series" or was intended to be changed to "anime", I'm honestly still not sure).

Sorry that was written in a fellow coordinator mindset. I fortunately had something to send that fit your current time limit so we're good
