Sony Vegas Pro - Anyone Know How to Do Rapid Image/Memory Sequence?

How would someone do the rapid image/memory sequence when compiling a bunch of media together? An example of what I mean would be an AMV made by LucioleAMV; from time stamps, 2:44 to 2:46.

There isn't really anything complicated going on at that part. The editor simply placed very short segments of those scenes/ images back to back on their timeline, and then used the pan tool to add in really quick zooms to them. Since all of the zooms are going in pretty much the same direction, it gives the effect of a endless zoom into each scene.
