Alternative Masking Tool for Vegas

I was wandering what people commonly use as an alternative to the built in Vegas masking tool, as I've seen a fair few people here say that they don't like using the tool themselves. I'm aware of the Photoshop individual frame option, but I was wandering if there were any other methods people used.
