I need help yet again =/

Post by saruto23 » Thu Jul 24, 2008 5:38 pm

In Vegas 8.0 on the peaks for the audio, the are split in two horizontaly. Is there a way to combine them or somthing? And also i feel like the peaks are hard to read to tell when the beats are. Can someone give me advice on how to read them easier? Thank You.

Use your ears as well. You can't combine them, they are one track.. but why the hell would you want to combine them?

Tips for finding beats? When it spikes up there is more then likely a strong beat there, but like I said...also use your ears.

It shows the waveform twice because it is a stereo file, so it has two channels. You can combine both channels, but it's not recommended as it'll probably decrease quality to some extent, and you may end up with some nasty phase-canceling as well.

As for reading them, you can expand the audio track by clicking on the bottom of the track in the list on the left and then dragging it down. Couple that with zooming in far enough and you should be able to see beats easier. Though Strudel is right; the easiest way to find your beats will be to simply listen for them before trying to see them in the waveform. He is a doctor after all.
... yea ...

Hell no, if you combine the only thing that will happen is it'll be harder to read. Haven't you noticed that the top set of peaks is different then the bottom set? :O

You're assuming this was recorded by someone who actually understands the purpose of stereo. I've seen plenty of tracks get recorded with the same thing on both channels. =\
