If you're using fullscreen 640x480 is nice, if widescreen, 720x480 or 848x480 are usually used.

720x480 is also full screen just at a DAR of 0.9.

640x360, 640x352, 720x360, 720x352, and 848x480 are some of the most used Widescreen resolutions.

another thing not mentioned is that your video is a widescreen source that you stretched to full screen, so you would probably want to find a way to fix the aspect ratio as well.

don't forget the PAL resolutions as well :3

768X576
1024X576
768 X432

all depends on what region your dvds are... not that WMM was designed with PAL in mind really >.<

personally the best resolution is to put this program in the trash and buy premiere/vegas

Depends on the actual resolution of your anime.
You don't want to use widescreen with a full screen anime. It looks really bad and, not to mention, stretched. WMM doesn't have to option to cut something to make it widescreen, so it squishes. Same with fullscreen. If your anime is widescreen, you don't want to use fullscreen.

I just suggest using the same resolution your anime source is in. That way, there is no loss or stretching.

indeed that's what i thought you meant. :ying:
