Think I have successfully downloaded Virtualdub. Attempted to open an AVI file - Error Message:
Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'DIV3' (Microsoft High-Speed MPEG-4 V3 [Hack:Divx Low Motion]). Virtualdub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. Directshow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable. Only 'Direct Stream copy' is available for this video.
I press okay.
I attempt to press the playback button.
Error message:
VideoSourceAVI: uncompressed frame 0 is short (expected 225600, got 1078)
Now what do I do plz? ;_;

Making an amv, is rather like being the director of a Broadway show, where you have a million dancers and each of them only knows one step.

Yes I have the latest Divx dl ::bangs head against wall::Kariudo wrote:do you have divx?
if not (or you're not sure) google it
look for binaries or executables, avoid source code (it won't do you much good)
After that, I have no idea what you're talking about.
I hate googling for progs and stuff, because its easy to get viruses that way.

...looking at fourcc.org, this is the page it gives you.
you really shouldn't get divx fansubs...

although I haven't read up on all the technical aspects of the subject, there is very little reason to think that ffdshow alone (not with CCCP) would fix problems with CCCP.
if haali media splitter is set to split avi files, it can give you wierd results.
since my WMM gave up the ghost a long time ago I can't test this myself.
it has been established that WMM has trouble with larger files (entire episodes encoded with huffyuv for example)
if ffdshow is giving you problems you can always check to see if it's trying to decode files that you already have other codecs for (like divx and xvid and huffyuv).
the codec page that I pointed to should resolve the vdubmod issue.

I have a Haali also but that the thing I dunno where it was set when I installed it in my L.P.Kariudo wrote:if haali media splitter is set to split avi files, it can give you wierd results.

Yes.... I encounter this too in huffyuv but not the entire eps. some of those clipsKariudo wrote:it has been established that WMM has trouble with larger files (entire episodes encoded with huffyuv for example)
so you mean as I can understand this.... I have to compress my clip is those codec (like huffyuv or XviD) in my vdubmod then try to import it in WMM to see if it's those clips is giving a error nor not?Kariudo wrote:if ffdshow is giving you problems you can always check to see if it's trying to decode files that you already have other codecs for (like divx and xvid and huffyuv).

sorry if I quoted your post just to make it sure I get it clear what you mean to me.

not at all.
what I meant is that ffdshow has a list of options.
some of these options can make ffdshow try to decode files, like divx for example.
if you also have the divx codec this can cause problems.
since ffdshow can be useful for other filetypes (like h.264) it would be nice to make ffdshow only decode the file types that you want it to. This can be done through ffdshow's video decoder configuration

O.o or maybe they have already fixed their problem (or forgotten about it)
