Hey! I film my own footage, so sorry about asking here but you guys know a lot about this stuff. My camera shoots in 16:9 but when I capture it it comes in a 4:3 aspect ratio what do I do?

I'll assume you're working in Premiere, since this is in the Adobe forums. Right click on your clip in the Project Bin and select Interpret Footage. In the window that pops up, change the Pixel Aspect Ratio to to D1/DV NTSC Widescreen 16:9.
Make sure your project is set up for 16:9 as well. That might have something to do with it automatically adjusting your captured footage since Premiere usually auto-detects video properties (I think).
