Overlapping, box video.

Post by Shadow_Leaper » Tue Oct 28, 2008 4:24 pm

Ok, Im pretty used to Adobe Premiere- but compared to the previous two Ive owned, I can't seem to figure out how to do this in Premiere CS3...

I just need to have a video clip appear in a smaller box in the forefront... (Im going to use just basic pics to show what I mean)

This is the basic I would like to know: Example 1

Then there is what I REALLY want to know how to do. The same concept, except I would like borders around it: Example 2

& Will I still be able to make it move around the screen...? Well all the help counts, thanks!

Are you making a newscast?>

Anyway, I don't use premiere but I've toyed around with it in the past. I believe you just put one clip on a track above the other then resize it and keyframe it to make it move.

Sorry... not very helpful...

you could make the "frame" in photoshop.... (or similar program)

Place the clip on a line above your main video line, pan out on said clip so that the image is smaller, and place the photoshopped frame on the line above all of them and pan it into place...

if done right then the frame will smooth out the edges of your video AND you will have the frame :P

you just gotta think in layers when building your video.

Wait... There's no way to put a stroke around a clip in premiere?

And anyway, don't both of you us Vegas? Maybe someone who actually uses premiere should answer...

As far as I can tell, there is no way to just add a frame (stroke) directly to a clip in Premiere.

Anyway, you don't really have to use any specific program in order to think in layers. That said, I second what Jaddzia suggested. That or just drop a black color matte under the layer with the shrunken video, then resize the color matte and position it behind your video to make it look like a frame.
... yea ...

That wouldn't get rid of the jagged edges though.... So I guess the way JaddziaDax and AaronAMV said is the best.
