I cannot open my project in Premiere Pro CS3
I was trying to import a clip into my timeline and it wouldn't import. So I shut the program down and restarted it. It lets me open up my other projects, but when I attempt to open up this one, it says "Application Not Responding" (a mac user here). I tried importing the project into After Effects which worked but the segment doesn't have my video layers from Premiere. I exported the project from After Affects renaming it and it still doesn't open in premiere. Any ideas on what's wrong or what I can do? I reeeeeaaaally don't wanna have to start from scratch.

... seems like you crashed your project with a bad avi file.
Just for testing, create a new project and begin by importing this clip just to check that your avi file is dead.
To restore your project, you really do not have a lot of choice from what I can see.
- You need to be skilled in XML or html... Open your project file in a text editor such as Notepad and rewrite the corrupted part by analysing the code and comparing it to another project. (yeah I know, It is going to be hard...)
- If losing some info from the last time you saved do not bother you, you have a really easy solution. In your project directory, go in: "Adobe Premiere Pro Auto-Save" and open the last modified project. After that, do not forget to do a Save as... to save your own file.

Thanks for you help. However, I converted all of my files over to .mov files with ffmpeg converter. Not to mention I was working with footage from a file I've used before with no problems.kenzuka wrote:... seems like you crashed your project with a bad avi file.

Yeah I opened it up and text edit and it wasn't a pretty site. I wouldn't know what would be wrong if I tried since this project itself has its own unique figures compared to other projects. Analyzing the code would probably take me just as long as just starting over.

And when I tried to access the auto-save files, those wouldn't open up either...

No because it opens my other files sin problemo...Krisqo wrote:Have you tried reinstalling the program just for shits and giggles?
Oh and now I see that after effects does provide me with the layers. Somehow it nested it all before, but the sequence now shows up with like 70 layers (obviously not that many in premiere).
The clip I was working with and trying to place into my timeline from premiere isn't even in these layers so I don't know what could be triggering this behavior.

There are 70 layers in AE because in AE each clip is it's own layer.
As for the clip, have you tried encoding it to another video format and seeing if that works. Not a Mac user here so I don't know what formats are available. I'm sure Uncompressed should.
And if there really is an error in the code then an complete re-install should re-work the code and possibly alleviate the problem without harming your project. I've done it a few times myself.
I've also heard of people who had problems and then one day it's gone. I think Adobe programs have minds of their own.

Yeah AE is weird because I can understand giving each clip its own layer, but sometimes it still splits one clip into more layers as well and it'll be like a couple of frames long, but still its own layer. But that's not bothering me right now at least *knocks on wood*Krisqo wrote:There are 70 layers in AE because in AE each clip is it's own layer.

I cannot open up the file in Premiere whatsoever so I'm not sure what encoding to another format could do. I even deleted all layers in AE and exported it and that still didn't solve the problem.
I guess I'll try a reinstall...I can't really wait for it to have a mind of its own (deadlines deadlines deadlines).
