Need help with photoshop cs3

Post by MystikSoulja » Fri Oct 10, 2008 3:13 pm

Here's what i did i had a clip i wanted to mask a video clip and i imported it into Photoshop and in the animation frame i edited the clip frame by frame and when i played it back in photoshop it was ok. I saved it as .psd and then imported the .psd it into After Effects because i wanted to edit with it but when i did it gave me a still image instead of a video clip with only the part i masked. Can anyone help me or suggest an alternative method to masking a video clip??

What happens if you open the save psd? is it just a still?

You need to save it as an image sequence. Goto file->export->render video

select image sequence and you want a png or 32bit targa (to preserver alpha).

Exporting as an Image sequence means every single frame will have it's own Image. But if they're named something like "PIC_1, PIC_2, ect" It should be really easy to keep them all in order when you take it all into your editor.

Of course, if you've got AE, you could just do it all in program.

I create a folder and put image sequence in there... when you go to import it into AE, select the first image in the sequence (ether 0 or 1) and then there should be a check box there that says "image sequence" click that and it will import it as a single object but contain all the frames in the sequence.

ALSO! very important! before you do anything after you've imported it, right click the object and select interpret footage... set the frame rate of the original video otherwise it will be the default one.

I had this problem earlier this week and was wondering why my masked comp was shorter then the original... it was because AE thought it was 30fps when it should've been 24.

Yea, but some times it's easier to do it in photoshop. Otherwise you have to deal with keyframes and shit.
