Lost Can i Please Get Some Opions?
I need some help with deciding on a good program thats able to make amvs like this [ Excluding Sony Vegas ]
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftgYbFqichY [ um i guess u cant post you tube, but if u would pls change boochsack.com into you tube and help me out ]
Will Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 do the job, does it have effects like picture in picture and changing the ratio in one layer while the other stays the same?
Thx for reading some advice would be helpful

you would have a hell of a time making that video with premiere 2.0, or any premiere version.
mainly because of;
-the quake effects
-the masking (yes this can be done in photoshop, but still)
-the motion blur
etc. and that was only about 45 seconds into the video
get after effects 7.0 pro, it's the most reliable and solid video editor i could reccomend

Saphire Quake plug-In-the quake effects
Yes. A vector tool like in Vegas or After Effects would be nice. You could use the freeware image editing program Gimp too.-the masking (yes this can be done in photoshop, but still)
Easy. imo If you mean the same things I do.-the motion blur
Haha. AE is NO, I repeat: NO, video editor. Yes you can use it for it, but it was made for effects only. You will eat your own ass if you try to edit a full amv with it.get after effects 7.0 pro, it's the most reliable and solid video editor i could reccomend
Get Vegas 6 for under 100 bucks or get Adobe Premiere Pro. AE is just additional effect stuff.
Vegas is top notch at such things.most reliable and solid video editor

You have to pay for this, pretty sure. It's free, more versatile, and more reliable in AE.Bauzi wrote: Saphire Quake plug-In
Again, it's possible, but it's a hell of a lot easier in AE.Bauzi wrote:Easy. imo If you mean the same things I do.
This still blows my mind that people say this;Bauzi wrote:Haha. AE is NO, I repeat: NO, video editor. Yes you can use it for it, but it was made for effects only. You will eat your own ass if you try to edit a full amv with it.
Since June 2007, i've edited and completed five music videos; one was an AMV for the Dragonforce MEP, and four were live-action music videos. All of them had extensive effects, especially the MEP and two of the live-action videos;
All five of them I used NOTHING but After Effects 7.0 Pro for.
The Dragonforce, 30 second MEP I did from start to finish in 18 hours total, over four days. Ask Eva-Fan if it's intensive; i did tons of beat/sound synch, a ton of masking/effects, and had to plan it out to make a mini-story as well.
Two of the live-action music videos were 4-5 minutes long; the other two were around 2 minutes long. All of them again were not only edited by me, but filmed also, synched up audibly, and again, done in nothing but AE 7.0 Pro, using no other programs whatsoever.
If you use the Shy tool, keep your files organized, keep videos organized by folder (same for compositions too), and have a powerful computer, AE 7.0 Pro can *easily* be used as a music video creator/editor fluidly. Trying to do the whole video on Premiere and then moving it to AE would be a massive chore, especially since all of my videos have lots of compositing effects, and i am super anal with beat synch; if i timed up all of my videos in premiere, and then brought them into AE, i would have no marker as to when the effects needed to happen.
/rant sorry, but i had to get that out there.

Forgot to mention too, both of the 5 minute videos had over 400+ layers.
still kept it all organized easily though.

I still don´t recommend it for beginners.
Why should I? Dealing with tons of layers isn´t everybodys beer. Cuting .avs episodes (VFAPI, ffdshow...) in AE too. If you can do it, it´s fine.

Please give me a link. My AE 7.0 has no quaker or shaker (I don´t think there is no preset to if I remeber right). It's free, more versatile, and more reliable in AE.

Ok, I totally agree on this. I'm just saying, I always get told that even for super pros who have been in the industry like for 20 years (that's not me, just saying), that using AE by itself is nigh impossible, and that just doesn't click with me.Bauzi wrote:I still don´t recommend it for beginners.
Uh, you've never used wiggler? It's built into the program, and you can use expressions pretty easily with it.Bauzi wrote:Please give me a link. My AE 7.0 has no quaker or shaker (I don´t think there is no preset to if I remeber right). It's free, more versatile, and more reliable in AE.
There's no "preset" for it, but there's an entire menu/window just for it.
Also, you can download a free quake plugin, just search "quaker", which is again, only for AE, and it's a preset that uses existing effects in AE combined.
Or you can go to www.videocopilot.net and download the new preset that Andrew Kramer just made, which is an even more versatile quake effect than anything else out there, but it only works on AE 7.0 and CS3.

Crap, forgot to put this in the other post. I have nothing against Vegas, but this guy wants to make an AMV with some effects, and to me at this point, using Vegas or Premiere is like riding a bike, whereas using AE is like riding a motorcycle.JaddziaDax wrote:so why not Sony Vegas?

have you ever tried making effects in vegas? Vegas can do almost anything that AE can do.. it just isn't as smooth and as clean as AE..
and if making effects in Vegas is like riding a bike then they should definitely go for it
i only watched the first few seconds of that video linked and I know I could make most of those effects (in the first 40 seconds) with just drop in effects (well maybe you would have to tweak them a little bit to make them look that way, but still..) and the masking tool...
not to mention i wasn't really directing the question to you but more to the original poster who wrote this:
