Adobe Premiere export problem

Post by dragonsong12 » Tue Oct 09, 2007 6:50 pm

Okay, having just gotten a new hard drive, I had to re-install everything. I downloaded and installed AMV app, and everything seems okay, I can import fine. But when I try to export from premiere using the huffyuv compressor, the file it creates closes everything.
Example, it immediately closes premiere upon completion of the file. If I try to open the file in any program it closes immediately. If I try to open the folder the file is in, the folder closes immediately. (In order to access said folders I have to open it and hi-light and delete the file before it closes. This process usually takes about 20 tries.)
This only happens if I export with the huffyuv compressor. All other exports work fine...but look hideous.

Any suggestions? I really need to get this working before the wekk is out. I'm on a deadline -_-

Thanks!

1) Turn off video previews in your Windows Explorer; that should take care of your directory opening problems. (Collapsing the Details box on the left-hand side of the window may be good enough.)

2) Disable ffdshow's support for HuffYUV.

3) Go into the HuffYUV codec options and make sure that "Always suggest RGB mode for output" is checked.

Then try again.

Also, are you following this for your export settings?

Windows still stores thumbnail files even when thumbnail mode isn't selected. Shouldn't that affect the video too? (assuming that the very scrolling through the video to get the screenshot for the first frame would cause the crashing).

If all else fails, delete it in Safe Mode. Much quicker than twenty tries

Or if you don't want to reboot into Safe Mode, you could always try the command line...

I had exactly the same problem. That´s my solution:

-Create a dummy file with nearly the same name (textfile)
-Place it into a directory near the one were your damaged file is
-Do a window search for the video file (there most be your textfile in the search result too!!!)
-DISABLE thumbnails for search. Choose something like "list"

Ok now the search result shows you at least your two files. The dummy and the video.
Click the dummy first and than (CTRL!) the videofile.
You can delete both files now.

It´s an easy way a lot windows users can do.

If you're going to do that, you might as well create a file with the SAMW NAME and then drag it to the folder, and select Yes. That'll replace the bad file, essentially deleting it, then you can delete your empty dummy file without a problem. This will require viewing and changing the extension of your dummy file, but that's nothing too complicated.

Thx. I just noticed the horrible typo in caps... that reduces the "genius factor" quite a lot.
