How to fix frame blending?

Post by Kazemon15 » Tue Oct 06, 2009 3:47 am

I'm not sure if this is in the right spot, but here it goes.

I wanna fix this horrible frame blending on some of my eps for an amv, but not sure what kind of filters I should use. On the ep itself, it has frame blending and I'm not sure if it was intentional or even fixable. Thanks in advance.

Here are some snapshots of what I mean.

It only happens on part of the episode where there's really fast movement. For a long while, I thought the company animated it that way for dramatic effect, but I'm not sure anymore.

Try SeparateFields()

if this is a premier export (not sure) make sure frame blending is checked off.
Image I stream and stuff o.o

Supposing you are using DVD footage, you should try to IVTC instead of full field deinterlace, since it's probably a case of telecined anime. If you are using a progressive source... then I'm afraid you're pretty much out of luck.

Thanks a lot.
I'll try it to see if that works. But like I said, it was the actual episodes I took the screen cap off of.

I'm ordering the dvds one by one, but these eps arent out in Japan yet on dvd. They're HQ raws in mp4 format. And I would wait for them, but I really would like to get my amv done before a contest deadline in November.... <<

So if they're raws, can't do anything about it? Thanks for your time and replies.

Well... technically speaking you could try to photoshop the frames that have blending... but yeah, once a frame is blended, there is almost no way to unblend it, unless the original clean frame is still somewhere there (eg: the blended frame is an in-between frame and the neighbour frames are the clean version of the two frames blended, in which case you can just remove the blended frame and use one of the two clean frames while editing).

However, I think that you could be able to obtain some proper ts raws, those are telecined and are the transcode of the actual streaming. You'll have to do IVTC and possibly quite some filtering, but the final result might come out without blending, and possibly better than some random raw that a japanese guy overfiltered, encoded, and put on share/pd. >_>

I see. Well I know some of the frames have a clean shot between each one, but others are just blended to hell. (And the worst part is, they are the most AMVable scenes of the whole ep...)

How do I do IVTC? I'm new to filtering stuff, so half the time I don't know what's what...

It's really hard to find some proper raws of this series that are in HQ, since it's not very popular in the US. (heck the manga only comes out every 4 months here) Which is why I'm dishing out the money to get the dvds and make amvs of it, in hopes to make it popular which could possibly make it licensed.

Thanks so much for helping me out.

IVTC stands for Inverse Telecine. It's explained here in the guide. Anyway, it'd only help if you have the telecined raw capped straight from the tv. Since your raw is already encoded, can't do anything about it.
Also, what show is it, out of curiosity?

Katekyo Hitman Reborn!

My new obsession. XD It starts off really slow, but it gets really good afterward. So far, there's 154 episodes and still going on. They actually just announced on Anime News Network that the novels are also going to be produced into a mini anime as well.

I want it licensed due to the fact that Funimation sent out C&D letters to all the fansub groups who sub it. It airs on Crunchyroll, but I dislike their subs and really don't want to pay to watch something I can't keep on my computer and if I can't own it on dvd with decent subs...

Mmmmh... it appears that all episodes up to episode 125 are already available on dvd, with episodes 126-129 coming out at the end of the month.

I'm not sure how affordable it would be, though... >_>
