When i covert an WMV amv to MP4 the playback is jumpy HELP

Well i've just finished an AMV and when i usually finish a video i convert one to Wmv and then convert one to MP4. The WMV one plays perfectly but when i play the MP4 one it jumps and skips. What can make it stop jumping? or do I just upload a WMV version and an AVI version instead?

what program are you using for your editing? also what program are you using for your mp4 converting?

yeah; X2 ... what editing program lets you export both MP4 & WMV?

a .mp4 can be converted to .wmv, .mov, .avi, .mkv, .rm, .viv .. just about anything!

a .wmv can not be converted to an .mp4 or any other type correctly! ( never can, never will )

true, your absolutely correct:

the error is not from the converter; its from the .wmv process itself going to any other format. It can be done!

Just because you get crappier quality from a wmv export doesn't mean that it can't be done (I've also seen way better wmv exports than that)... more so that it shouldn't be done, that is unless you don't care about your visual and audio quality.

If the original poster does care about their quality then they exporting lossless from their editing software and then creating his/her distribution versions from the lossless file, instead of what it sounds like they are doing: making the different versions from the same lower quality distro file. (And yes h.264/x.264 encoded .mp4s are still lossy so they shouldn't be making wmvs from those either.)

i should'nt of said convert I RENDER 1 IN WMV AND ONE IN MP4 not convert (sorry)

try exporting (rendering) as a lagarith encoded avi (or uncompressed avi) and using that file in megui or zarxgui to compress to the mp4/h.264 format...

Vegas actually handles wmv pretty darn well, however most other compressions it sucks at, so its better to export lossless and then compress with an external program.
