WHAT THE @#%&!!!! Picture quality issues

Post by Jenya » Wed Oct 01, 2008 8:03 pm

Okay, so I finally got through all the cleaning of the videos and even managed to save some of the footage into clips. So I open up my next vid to save, and get this.

What the hell? I had already finished adding all the filters and what not the last time I looked at the vid on virtual dub. I had saved it and everything and it looked great. Now it looks terrible and I don't understand why. I haven't added any new filters that would make it look like. Not only this clip, but all the videos with footage from PS2 games that I ripped look like this now. All the Psone footage is still fine.

I played the original videos on two different media players and they're normal. I tried restarting my comp and reopening virtual dub to see if it was just a glitch. I tried removing each filter I'd added one by one until nothing but the AVISource is left and nothing. I tried making a completely new script and opening it in VirtualDub; nothing. The only clue I have is that when I open my vids in VirtualDub, a long black line appears under the timeline marker that extends for the whole clip. How can I fix this?

A pure guess (since i can't see the image) - did you make sure to set vdub's output settings to be 24-bit instead of the 16-bit it defaults to on install?

It's borked on five different avs scripts? In such a way that they all have that exact glitchy look on all five clips? Cause it's not just this one vid it's doing this on, it's five vids that just a few days ago looked just fine and ready to be saved for editing. I mean, I can go ahead and post all the scripts, but I have generally similar scripts for the vids that have the PSone footage, and there's nothing wrong with them.

I could move the vids to a simpler destination path, I guess.

I don't know, but if was wrong since the initial install, why would it suddenly show up now?

Ooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhh, that picture. Sorry. I'm not sure what's wrong; I'm seeing it okay when I look at the thread. Is there problems because it's a bmp?

Well duh, that's the point of the thread.

You might just try reinstalling AviSynth. It's a hassle, but I don't know why that would start happening unless something is wrong with AviSynth, itself. You won't have to rewrite the scripts or anything, so it may be worth a try, at least.

Yeah, that doesn't sound like a bad idea. I recently updated to 2.0, I think. What's the most recent version I can get?
