AR question...
I'm working with a live action DVD, the aspect ratio according to the back of the box is 1.85:1 , according to DGIndex the AR is 16:9. What would be the correct size in pixels that I would resize too? And what would 2.35:1 be?

16:9 != 1.85 but it is pretty close. When you consider the fact that with digital video, we want our resolution to be multiples of 16, this makes our acceptable margin of error fairly large. If you just crop the left and right, then resize to 848x480, you are going to end up *just outside* that margin of error. Now, you could just crop 8 pixels from both the top and bottom (you will probably have some very small black borders there anyways), to reduce your resolution to 848x464, and you should now be within that acceptable margin of error.
But really, if you wanted to just crop everything in one go, and then resize to 848x480, and leave it at that, it wont be wrong enough for anyone to notice.
For 2.35, you would basically want to resize to 848x480, then crop about 64 from both top and bottom.
