VirtualDubMod error: Unrecognized exception

Post by r0arrr » Thu Aug 07, 2008 8:39 pm

Hi, I'm making my first AMV and I've been following Absolute Destiny's instructions very carefully at http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/ ... index.html and I've hit a roadblock at the part where I load my .avs file into VirtualDubMod. The writer of the guide has an answer for the error message I recieve ("Unrecognized exception: The memory at blah blah blah is unreadable"), but I really don't understand the answer. I tried making a new .d2v and a new .avs, but it didn't work. I also tried uninstalling AMVapp, but to no avail.
What else can I try? I coul really use some help.
Thanks in advance.

Well what's the solution in the guide? And depending on what that solution is, posting your script might help as well.
... yea ...

The solution the guide gave is:
This is a nasty error, but it's not always uncurable. You may need to cleanse your system of avisynth, mpeg2dec and dvd2avi/DGIndex and start again. Doing a purge, installing the AMVapp and remaking the d2v files should fix this. If it still occurs it may be a real memory issue but this should not happen with just one script and not with the versions of the programs included in the newest AMVapp. This error often occurs when using newer versions of DGIndex without updating DGDecode.dll

I tried to do what was suggested, I just found it kind of confusing. "Cleanse your system" meaning uninstall? I did try that. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the entire AMVapp. And I don't think I have a "real memory issue" since the drive I'm working on has 15.5 GB free space.
My script is incredibly simple, considering I haven't done anything with it yet:

For the first .d2v project
MPEG2Source("F:/DVDVIDEO/VIDEO_TS DandR/dandr.d2v")

And the second one
MPEG2Source("F:/DVDVIDEO/VIDEO_TS EoE/eoe.d2v")

And the third:
MPEG2Source("F:/DVDVIDEO/VIDEO_TS V5/v5.d2v")

There's about 4-8 .vobs in each project. Yes, I've check for typos in the script.

I hope someone can help me using this information. Thanks.

HDD space and RAM are both called 'memory?' I missed that memo. :?

"Memory" is probably referring to your RAM so check your RAM and make sure its functioning properly or you are not running out.

Aside from that, I don't know. If you have AMVApp 3.0beta, everything should be working fine.

In text books and in the late 80s / early 90s it was. It's technically correct, but not usually used in that respect. People use the term "memory" to mean "volatile memory" (like RAM) nowadays.
