Dubs in VDM randomly stops

Post by AimoAio » Sat May 24, 2008 11:58 am

Seriously this is like a chain-reaction of problems happening all in the same day!

Ok first I was converting an avi file to Lagarith(I usually use Huffyuv but I'm running low on space),when it finished I tried loading it into Sony Vegas to edit. Now this is where the problem started. It crashed Vegas and somehow destroyed the project I was working on(the sony project file is there but when I try opening it,it gets to the vegas window and says Cannot open-File cannot be found). Now the Lagarith avi file wont play at all and when I try deleting it,it just says The File is corrupted and unreadable :\

OK fine so I went online to find solutions to fix it.(btw I save all my .avi, huffyuv, lagarith files all on my external hard drive). It said I had to delete the volume and reformat it so I did that(i had to remove all my huffy and lag clips because they won't fit on the computer). So my external hard drive is CLEAN and healthy now so I decided to start compressing the .avi files to lagarith so I could get back to my project. Now the funny problem is that only SOME files will convert sucessfully but the rest somehow jams at a certain percentage and refuse to move.

^see how it's stuck at 74%?it's been at that for about half an hour now :(

For once I have a whole day of free time to make an amv and this happsn.I have a bad feeling that the corrupted file had something to do with this....help please?

It's been ages since I used Virtualdub, so I may be wrong here.

Looks like you are doing 2 pass encodes. I noticed the one before the encode that crashed says aborted. That presumably is the first pass. If that was aborted some time during the encode, then the 2nd pass will only have a partial stats file and I think that may cause a problem (though I would have expected XviD to carry on using an average bitrate or quantizer rather than just crash).

Try double clicking that job that says aborted to put it to waiting, that means it will run that first pass all the way through when you set it to run.

okay I doubled clicked and it was set to waiting. Then when I pressed Start, all the waiting files changed to Error :\ or was I meant to only double click the one file?

ok it's not working either.I removed the aborted encodes and added 2 new ones. The first one crashed at 10%..(btw I'm converting a .wmv to lagarith .avi)

and I cant use the .wmvs in vegas because it says building peaks, stops at 4%,then crashes :|

are you rendering them on an external with file size limit on it?

um I'm not sure if there's a file size limit...do you mean like is there still space left on the external hard drive?

um anyway this might help

Western Digital 500GB My Book Essential Edition External Hard Drive

File System:NTFS(I converted it from FAT32)
Free Space:413GB
Total Size:465GB

The clips I'm encoding are located in this hard drive(.wmv) and so are the Lagarith files(.avi)and in the same folder aswell but this hasnt been a problem when I first encoded them to Huffyuv

.. looks like a Frame Rate Mis-match!
VD is fairly picky about the Frame Rates being an Exact Match!

.. why frame-rate error suspected ? Job #11 & Job #16 aborted ^__^

that you remind me,when I encode the file seperately(not batch)In the status window it did say

Video Rendering Rate:0.0fps

and the current video and audio frame is stuck at the same number
