Can't Play .avs Files On WMP?

Can't Play .avs Files On WMP?
I put this in the AviSytnth forum because it's a problem with this certain file type. WMP works fine, except when I try to open .avs files on it. Then I get an "unsupported file type" error. Is this a codec issue? A problem with AviSynth? A problem with my .avs file? I'm following the AvTech Tutorial to relearn some old things for an AMV I'm planning, and never run into this problem before. I have WMP 10, and it's on a brand-spanking new laptop. Please help me!
