As much as double posting seems to be a no-no, I'm going to anyways ^_^. I've been messing around with the fps conversion from 23.976 to 24. So far all I've tried is using Virtual Dub and going to Video - Frame Rate... - Frame rate conversion - Convert to fps: and typing in 24. I'm doing this from the huffy I render out from Vegas. I've watched the output from Vdub and it seems just fine. I prolly won't need any more help, well I was hoping to receive some today (oh wait its 1 in the morning, I guess yesterday  ) but no one ever posted. No problem, all I'm waiting for now is for the finished beta to be moved into the outbox so you people can download it and give some final opinions. Goodnight people!

Dear god, triple post! Strange that the forum is sluggish and no-one is posting except for me ^_^! (Even though I'm the laziest one here, or so I think) Don't bother with the the finished beta I said about earlier. I've done some minor to semi-major changes to my video and think I have the absolute finished product. For starters I changed some of the timing mostly near the end and changed some scenes near the middle because it was lacking something. I improved quality a little bit by turning down the filtering of the my avisynth script which was cpu=6 to cpu=2 and iPP=true to iPP=false. Now I'm not sure if the iPP does anything of any sort, but plz tell me if it is important. Well check rose's FTP for my new one. It will either be version 0.95 or 1.00.

Now, what I still need...
How many pictures or frame caps do I need?
How long does the monologue have to be?
And is there anything else I need?

I'm very sorry about the triple post. I wanted to wait to post this stuff after someone else posted, but no one ever did, SORRY

I haven't seen your product (because i can't connect to the ftp) but if you're worried about video quality, you should also experiment with some postprocessing scripts -- first export to huffyuv, then apply postprocessing scripts, then compress with the codec you'll be submitting to rose4emily (huffyuv or high quality xvid). see http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/ ... intro.html

the monologue shouldn't last more than 1 minute spoken. there's no really lower limit to the length. if you think a few sentences is enough to say all you want to say, that's fine. number of pictures isn't really important, just consider how quick the pictures will need to be changed. (6 pictures in a one-minute speech would need to be changed every 10 seconds.)

eventually we'd like to make a dvd, so bakadeshi will want a high-quality 720x480 video from everyone. but we'll worry about that later.

Hey just wanted to say other than the resizing of my video it is complete so if anyone has the time give it a quick look over and tell me if it will be a good addition to the project.

LoadPlugin("F:\Program Files\AviSynth 2.5\plugins\MPEG2Dec3.dll")
LoadPlugin("F:\Program Files\AviSynth 2.5\plugins\Decomb.dll")
MPEG2Source("H:\\END_OF_EVA\VIDEO_TS\endofeva.d2v",cpu=6,iDCT=5,iPP=true)
Telecide()
Decimate(5)
Adding:

Asumefps(24)

handles that, but if you already edited in 23.97, converting to 24 afterwards might theoretically throw off the project by a frame or 2 in some of your clips. I'm not sure on that though, never actually tried it.

Well Everyone, See you all at the contest if you'll be there. I'll be there at least for the main contest. I'll also try to catch the overflow contest for songbird's entry. I'll be there with my Brother, sister, and cousin.

As for the project, I'm Actually writing this from a freinds house in VA right now, so I won't be able to contribute anything to the project till I get back to GA sometime after the 2nd. I'll did a few tweaks to my video, so I do want to render it and enter it to the FTP before the project ends, however there is no change to the length or anything substantial, just some minor changes according to the feedback I got from jasper.

I have been experimenting with the layout and format for the DVD title menus and such, and its looking like I can get it close to how I imagined it. I'll work more on that and get samples ready when I get back from Otakon.

Ok i just uploaded my images for the monologue. I hope they're good to use, if there's a problem tell me and ill fix it.

Um, i tried uploading my huff version but it would take about 10 hours and i think my xvid version is good enough. It's one pass quality so that should do. if you really want the huff version though ill upload it over night.

Do you mind if i upload a 1:30 segment of a video i started doing for this project but never finished? I just wanted you to see what i had so far. Who knows, maybe if you someone starts a second instrumentality project, i'll probably have a fresh video for that.

Well long story short, I've finished my video and uploaded it to the org and am going to upload my huffy tonight or tomorrow. Doing some extra filtering helped out on quality ^_^! Check my sig, neato :P

Please bear with my disorganizaion...

If anyone is having trouble connecting to the FTP, I imagine it's because you're still trying to get to it through an IP address rather than my domain name. Because I'm behind a cable modem right now, the IP address may change during periods of inactivity, while the DNS is something I can update to always point to my server.

You want to connect to "thewired.info" rather than "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx".

There are folders in there. They aren't completely up to date with the separate folders I've been using to test things and work on my part of the project, but they contain all of the videos I've recieved.

BTW - DownWithPants, I have a huffman copy of "Tomoe", I just overlooked it when I was reorganizing my file system and moving over to the new machine. It should be up there soon. If you still want to send a CD to me, however, I'm at 34 Old Rochester Rd., Dover, NH 03820.

I still don't really like the widescreen version of the "set", but can't think of what I should do with it. Help, anyone?

My video is finished, but I haven't posted a huffman because to do so would take up over two gigabytes of hard disk space (I made one before, as a test), and I have a lossless version as a 1 GB set of PNG images. I will use the lossless one for the compilation, and will likely produce a HuffYUV for Bakadeshi's DVD when we get that far, but I'm trying to keep my disk clean to hold all of the other huge HuffYUV files that should be coming in.

I'll also produce an archive copy of the project with each video recorded losslessly and separately in case better codecs come along or I finish my delta-and-entrophy-encoding "animation-friendly" lossless codec any time soon. I am currently reading a very big book on lossless and lossy video compression schemes and have to say that the stuff is fascinating - and that the most popular codecs are far better suited to encoding live footage than traditional flat-shaded, frame-redundant animation. I'm making progress on my media studio app (largely by trying it to similar components of other projects I am, have been, or will be working on in the office - the UI and interfaces to external applications being the most complex portion of the app, despite the fact that the codecs are the only "experimental" part). Where DVD burners have come down to near $100, I'll probably pick one up later the summer to make all of this mass data storage a bit more practical than it is under the current system of CDs and overburdained hard drives.

I did purchase my second anime DVD title today, though - Interstella 5555 - so there's one less large file on the hard drive. Now, if the EVA Platinum DVDs hurry up and I find a good deal on FLCL and Kare Kano (bit of a Gainax fan?), I think I'll be all set in replacing the fansubs lingering on my hard drive. Besides, it's kinda odd for a 19-year-old male to own a DVD collection composed primarily of old Audrey Hepburn films.

AznRaver - Any chance you could send your images all in the same aspect and resolution? I can edit them to fit on the "tv screen", but it complicates the compisiting process quite a bit and probably won't come out exactly as you'd want it to - especially given the smallish sizes of the screens inside the "set".[/url]
may seeds of dreams fall from my hands -
and by yours be pressed into the ground.

I was wondering what res of the images should I use. I'm assuming 512x288 my video size, but I could go bigger. Any ideas?

For my huffyuv, should I export in RGB or YUY2? Currently I have a RGB huffy of my full 6 min video with bumper and credits. So if I export the 5 some minute version it should be under a gig and even further if its in YUY2 I think. If you've got the hard drive space then I have the bandwidth to upload no problem.
