Yea, good to see we're getting closer to deadline.
Now... any ideas how to actually approach the writing of those little 'speech intro' things? You know, what sorts of things to emphasize, etc... As always, I'm just not sure where to start

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

hey rose4emily, before you format my huffyuv into a 4:3 or 16:9 format, lemme see if i can get a sharper version of it done. i think i said i'd do it two weeks ago, but, um, yeah laziness
(also i was sick past three days). i looked at the huffyuv version i uploaded, and the new version i'm able to get, and the new version is noticeably sharper. so i'd like to get a new version up, once i finish tweaking it.
the main problem is i'm on a dialup so uploading a huffyuv will be impossible so i'll either need to encode with a lossy codec or snail mail a cd. or sucker a friend who has cable. anyways, you may not want to format my video yet.
as for the dialogue, this is what i had prepared:

seems long though, i might take out the third paragraph."Clair de Lune" by Claude Debussy
Shifting away from the traditional classical music composition of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, Claude Debussy developed a style labeled Impressionism that would revolutionize French music after the turn of the 20th century. While traditional classical music followed a directional, goal-oriented form, Impressionist music emphasized the quality or color of the tone itself. The music did not need to lead anywhere. Rather, it was simply there to describe a feeling. Debussy's piano works required a new style of piano playing, characterized by suspended bass notes and distinct pedalling.
"Clair de Lune," translated as "Moonlight," is perhaps Debussy's most well-known piece. It comes from his work Suite Bergamasque, written in 1890 and revised in 1905.
The piece begins with a soft and gentle melody over a progression of unresolved chords. As the chords are elaborated, the music modulates to the minor, moving the piece from the initial sweet and light mood into a dark and troubled one. By the third minute, the functions of the bass and melody switch -- the bass plays the eighth notes while the melody plays the chords, suggestive of strong movement with the rapid motion in the bass. The music returns to the original theme, eventually fading to a gentle ending.

Everyone: For a template of what the video description monologues should look like, check the one DownWithPants put in the post above this one.
Jasper-Isis: My support for MPEG2 actually isn't that great, in that I'd have to convert it before editing it, and then I'd have to compress it again. I have hard drive space aplently now, but I understand on the download time bit. Perhaps you could do a PNG stream and then ZIP it? I know that the raw PNG stream is lossless, and about half the size of the Huffman for my video, so a zipped PNG stream should be considerably more compact than the Huffman without destroying any data and would maintain my ability to edit it directly, so long as you also send (preferably outside of the .zip file) a text file with the frame rate and dimensions of the video. I could then reassemble the PNG stream back into the final version without any unneccesary data loss. If you have to do a lossy compressed format, though, I can use MEncoder to convert out of MPEG2 to a HuffYUV or PNG stream on my end, so it's certainly possible. Your video is so pristine in the first place that it should still look very good when the whole process is done.

Ooshna- Just saw your vid. And may I just say that I am reminded of the Silent Hill video game like you would not believe. It's very well edited. Although I feel it's a bit long considering the pace of the song. But that's just artistic differance. ::thumbs up::

Bakadeshi - Incredible work on the ghibli vid. The part where the girl rescuses the cat is very powerfull. It made me go and dig out my subwoofer I likes tre driving beat so much. Can't wait to see more.
As for me I think I'm going to try to get another AMV started, although I have a couple of things left to do on requeim like tweeking the audio and improving the ending.

rose4emily: Seeing as I have no idea how to encode a PNG stream, I'll just make you a nice, near-DVD-quality MPEG-2. To crunch down on filesize, can you tell me the minimum resolution that I can encode in? You probably wont need a 720x480 video... unless you're planning to make a DVD of the whole project or something...
So basically, the monologue is like a description of the song? I haven't seen Fantasia in years and years, so I don't remember how it was in the real thing.
